“The 39th Military & First Responder Salute is significant for many reasons,” said Rod Henry, President and CEO of the Temple Chamber of Commerce. “First, the Temple Chamber has a long-standing tradition of support of the Military in Central Texas. This commitment began in the 1930’s when the Chamber’s Defense Projects Committee, led by Frank W. Mayborn, was instrumental in the establishment of Camp Hood, now Fort Cavazos, and the Olin E. Teague Veterans Center, now the Central Texas Veterans Healthcare System, in Temple.”

The annual event returned to the in-person luncheon in 2022 following a hiatus because of the COVID-19 Pandemic. Both the 2020 and 2021 events were reimagined to virtual presentations and drive-thru lunch to go events. The Chamber, H-E-B Partners, and business community volunteers prepared and served hamburger boxed lunches for Temple’s Central Texas Military Partners, veterans, first responders, and the community.

“Second, we continue the appreciation of the Armed Forces through representation from Fort Cavazos and the Texas Army National Guard in Temple, and our local veteran community,” Henry continued.

Active-duty soldiers from Temple’s Central Texas Military Partners the 13th ESC/Fort Cavazos, 1st Medical Brigade/Fort Cavazos, and Garrison Command/Fort Cavazos, along with the 3rd Squadron, 278th Armored Cavalry Regiment (ABCT)/Texas Army National Guard located in Temple, are invited as honored guests. As are veterans through local veterans’ organizations including the American Legion Post #133 and VFW Post #1820.

“Finally, we are embracing the men and women who as First Responders, protect and serve our community 24 hours a day, 7 days a week,” expressed Henry.

Beginning in 2020, the Chamber incorporated First Responders into this annual recognition event. Local law enforcement, fire and rescue, EMS, and medical and health care professionals will continue to be invited as honored guests.

This year’s event includes a special presentation by General (R) Paul E. Funk II, former commanding general of III Corps/Fort Cavazos.

Through this annual tradition, the Chamber unites the business community to give back and honor those who have given so much. Further event information can be found at www.templechamber.com or by calling (254) 773-2105.

Cadence Bank Center Ribbon Cutting

Cadence Bank, the Bell County Expo, and the community recently celebrated Cadence Bank as the new name-in-title sponsor of the arena and Expo Center located in Belton, Texas.

The Bell County Commissioners Court approved the 10-year naming contract on May 8, 2023. The transition to the new name of Cadence Bank Center is complete with signage changes to the facility and a ribbon cutting celebration held September 26, 2023.

A statement from Cadence Bank noted that this sponsorship exemplifies their commitment to community development, economic growth, and fostering unforgettable experiences at the expo center for residents and visitors alike.

"This collaboration is about more than just a name; it is a celebration of the community's collective achievements and aspirations. As a trusted institution rooted in this community, we are thrilled to be an integral part of this transformative endeavor,” said Dan Rollins, chairman and CEO at Cadence Bank.

“We look forward to working hand in hand with the county and its residents, forging a legacy of exceptional experiences that will resonate for generations to come."

The Bell County Expo Center is a public venue in Central Texas, with several facilities including an 8,000-seat arena. The center opened in 1987 and hosts a wide variety of events, including fairs and carnivals, rodeos, concerts, local high school graduations, banquets, livestock shows, and various conventions.

“Venue sponsorships are a big part of how we generate revenue. Naming rights are always a huge achievement in our industry. The fact that a corporation of Cadence Bank’s stature would want to put their name on our arena because of the exposure we bring is a compliment to our success,” said Tim Stephens, Executive Director of the Cadence Bank Center.

“We are delighted to have this new sponsorship with Cadence Bank and…we will proudly wear the name of Cadence Bank Center as we continue to bring events to Bell County that enhance the quality of life and economic impact in the area.”

The naming rights agreement symbolizes a profound investment in the county's economic vitality between Cadence Bank and the Expo Center. The commitment to innovation will ensure that these venues remain at the forefront of the industry, attracting premier events and driving tourism, business, and local pride.

Temple's Thriving Future: A Vision for Sustainable Growth & Community Development

Temple has experienced tremendous growth with an influx of business and people to the community, with expectations for it to continue in the coming years. Leadership Temple heard from several City of Temple officials on their plans for managing and promoting growth in the community. City Manager Brynn Myers, along with Mayor Tim Davis and City Council Members Jessica Walker, Mike Pilkington, and Zoe Grant, emphasized the city’s goal of not letting growth happen to the city but capitalizing on it and ensuring the community grows with it.

City officials from various departments presented detailed strategic plans to Leadership Temple on maintaining and expanding city services. Planning for the city as a whole has been addressed by dividing Temple into 14 unique neighborhoods to understand and address the specific needs of each area. For example, West Temple’s growth requires investment in infrastructure and park development. Chuck Ramm presented the expanded outdoor amenities being constructed, including a 12-million-dollar project on Pea Ridge called Southwest Community Park. East Temple is investing in many revitalization and renovation projects. The Transform Temple initiative addresses some of this investment. Buford Craig and his team manage the upkeep of roadways, green spaces, and even abandoned and rundown properties, making our community an attractive and safe place to live.

The influx of businesses and people increase the demand for utilities. Water, in particular, is of significant concern. A tour of the Temple Water Treatment

Plant shed light on how the city is managing and planning for the city’s water needs. The plant has expanded its poly-membrane plant, complementing the traditional water treatment process. The addition expands the city’s capacity to treat and pump water to the 12 towers around the city. The development of the industrial park in north Temple has resulted in substantial water demand. A three-million-gallon water tank is under construction to supply the needed water to these businesses. The water tower will be the largest in the nation.

Nancy Glover, Director of Housing and Community Development, presented the community’s various volunteering opportunities and social services strategy. One of the highlights is a project that arose from the city’s mental health and homeless strategic plan. Arbor of Hope co-locates services and living opportunities for our community’s homeless population. The project partners with several of the community’s successful outreach programs, such as Feed My Sheep and Families in Crisis, capitalizing on resources already provided by the community and amplifying the potential to help those in our community in the most need.

The City government presentations impressed upon the current Leadership Temple members the immense level of thought and consideration going into the planning by city leaders and community members to manage and grow with the city.

Temple Manufacturing Week 2023 Ends with a Job Fair October 6

Meet Temple & Temple Chamber of Commerce

Meet Temple — the talent attraction arm of the Temple Economic Development Corporation (Temple EDC) — and the Temple Chamber of Commerce partnered for a third consecutive year to host Manufacturing Week in the Temple, Texas community.

This fall, Manufacturing Week 2023 presents an exceptional opportunity for Temple’s top industry experts to open their doors to students, parents, teachers and community leaders with the goal of fostering valuable connections and illuminating potential career pathways within the region’s advancing manufacturing industry.

Manufacturing Week celebrations took place over the first week of October, kicking off on Monday, October 2 with a proclamation from Mayor Tim Davis. Leadership Tours and TISD activities took place throughout the week, leading up to the highly anticipated job fair, today, Friday, October 6 in partnership with Workforce Solutions of Central Texas. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore the ins and outs of the manufacturing industry through connecting with accomplished industry experts.

The event included participation from local employers like Wilsonart, Durcon, Temple Machine Shop, Delta Centrifugal, Materials Transportation Company (MTC), MooreCo Inc, Palladio Industries Inc and Polar Beverages-Polar Texas Bottling. These companies aim to help innovative, curious individuals familiarize themselves with the modern manufacturing landscape Temple has created.

“The goal of Manufacturing Week is to inspire the next generation of innovators by fostering a deeper understanding of Temple’s manufacturing industry,” said Adrian Cannady, President & CEO of Temple Economic Development Corporation. “We are excited to connect new talent to exciting opportunities for career advancement in Central Texas’ growing manufacturing landscape.”

Temple serves as an optimal hub for manufacturing enterprises seeking growth and prosperity. Positioned strategically with ideal infrastructure and a pro-business climate, it is no surprise that manufacturing employment has increased 28% in the region, showing no signs of slowing down. Temple is home to a variety of top contributors to the manufacturing industry who are continuously seeking new talent to join their teams.

“The Temple community has long served as a hub for companies looking to grow their manufacturing operations,” said President & CEO of the Temple Chamber of Commerce, Rod Henry. “Manufacturing Week is an opportunity for us to not only showcase the strength of this industry here in Central Texas, but to also highlight the advancements and innovations that are positioning us for a brighter future.”

Temple EDC and Temple Chamber of Commerce hope to foster interest within the community for prosperous careers in Temple’s manufacturing industry. Visit our event page https://bit.ly/TempleMFGDay for more information on Manufacturing Week.
