“I was 25 years old when I opened Okra. I am the sole owner. I do not have any angel funders or loans, meaning that a huge part of my business has been built from community donations of time and resources. I feel that I am an influential person in the changing and shaping of Plaza Midwood. I am on both the board of the Plaza Midwood Merchants Association and the PM Neighborhood Association, both of which I have been on for two years. I have lived in Charlotte for those two years and in that time, I have opened a successful yoga, massage and tea/coffee lounge that won Best of Yoga Venue by Creative Loafing. “My vision is to create a space in Charlotte where people can gather and heal through pursuing their own unique passions. I am committed and excited to facilitate this, not only in my own space at Okra, but I also hope to inspire many others to make a big jump to do the
