Discover “Green Gold” at TIGIS and BuildInG Taiwan

iGiS (the 5th Taiwan International Green Industry Show), organized by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) and Expo Union Corp., and BuildInG Taiwan (the 3rd Taiwan International Smart Green City Expo), organized by the Bureau of Foreign Trade of the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) and implemented by TAITRA and Expo Union, will offer a platform to find solutions for a greener future from Oct 30 to Nov 2 at TWTC Hall 1, along with Taiwan International Photovoltaic Exhibition, running at the same venue for three days Oct. 30 – Nov. 1.
Diversified Product Lines Showcase New Trends and Opportunities to Expand Global Green Market TiGiS and BuildInG Taiwan showcase achievements of all exhibitors in green products, technologies and services. Each year, these two green exhibitions provide a prime platform not only to demonstrate Taiwan's strengths in the green industry, ranked 3rd globally in sustainable development by IMD this year, but also contribute to greening of economies worldwide. Over 180 exhibitors will participate in 2013 TiGiS and BuildInG Taiwan, focusing on renewable energy, wind power systems, water technology, eco-friendly equipment, fuel-saving electrical vehicles, plant factories, smart buildings, total solutions for green city planning.
Environmental Protection Administration of the Executive Yuan, the Low-Carbon City Pavilion of Taipei City Government, the Green Energy Industry Flagship Pavilion of New Taipei City and the Taiwan Green Classics Awards and Display Area of the Green Trade Project Office (GTPO), MOEA, are among Taiwan government agencies that will present their latest effort in promoting environmental protection and in green industry development.

Major domestic exhibitors include Giant Lion, Panasonic, China Steel, Masterhold International and Shinkong iEcofun. Nearby are international participants including American State Offices Association (ASOA) and the German Trade Office Taipei. Other international exhibitors include those from Japan, Switzerland, and China. German-based IDEALHYP, AMRON of Japan, and BURO HAPPOLD from the United Kingdom are among those invited to visit the twin shows, so further interactions among different parties in developing green economy may be created.
Taiwan Int’l Smart City Summit for Global Exchange The 2013 Taiwan International Smart Green City Summit seeks to address environmental issues caused by global urbanization from three different angles: global development strategies, sustainable cities, and integrated solutions. Speakers include Mr. Andrew Leung, chairman of Asian Institute of Intelligent Buildings; Dr. Stanley Yip, director of Planning & Development in ARUP; Mr. Kok Fei Damian Tang, the president of Singapore Institute of Landscape Architects; Mr. Koichi Moto, executive managing officer director of Mori Building Co. Ltd.; Mr. Arding Hsu, SVP of Siemens Limited, China, Mr. K. C. Liu, CEO of Advantech, Ltd., and Mr. Allen Liou, IBM Taiwan Global Technology Services Solutions Design Manager. Th e y w i l l s p e a k o n gre e n solutions to cope with the ecochallenges of urbanization by meshing different approaches such as smart networking, smart energy and smart building, offering insights on how to seize emerging opportunities in the international market. Buyers' badges for admission will be issued during the first three days of the exhibition based on business cards. The exhibitions will be open to the public free of charge on November 2. China Steel Chemical Corporation (CSCC) China Steel Chemical Corporation (CSCC), a chemical treatment company in Taiwan, can make good quality high performance anodes from coal tar pitch provided by its parent company, China Steel Corporation (the No.1 steel maker in Taiwan). When pitch is thermally treated to be mesophase spherules by chemical engineering processes a Green Mesophase Powder (GP) is obtained. The particle size of this anode powder can be determined by controlling the parameters of the process. Such green mesophase powders can be further made into Meso-Graphite Powders after carbonization and graphitization. MGP, FMGP and SMGP series are popular anode materials currently solo by CSCC. The company also provides anodes for ultra high capacity design and soft carbon for fast charging requirements. In the smartphone and tablet PC era, CSCC provides high specific capacity anode materials with high electrode density in SBR/CMC systems for high energy density design. In addition to mesophase graphite powders, the company also provides soft carbon, MSC, for fast charging requirements (ex: HEV). MSC has excellent charging capability, especially in a low temperature environment. The energy density of MSC is also much higher than that of hard carbon.

iEcofun, a subsidiary of Taiwan’s Shinkong conglomerate, was established in 2012. Its business ranges from creative design, ecological fish tanks, hydroponics, self-watering plant pots and iEasyGrow soil substitute, to green energy and other emerging industries. Early in its development, iEcofun received an Honorable Mention at the 2010 Taipei Flora Expo. In 2012, the company’s “Yi 2” ecological aquarium and “Impressionism Flower Frame” received the Taiwan Excellence Award. As a result, iEcofun’s innovative product design and unique product features are highly anticipated at exhibitions and attract considerable media coverage.
General Optics Corporation (GOC), a global provider of key components for hydrogen utilization and production, has developed the HO-PEM product line for onsite hydrogen generation with zero greenhouse gas emissions. The HGL series is a model for laboratory instrumentation, such as Gas Chromatography. It features low power consumption, rapid startup and high gas purity. Based on patented technologies, the HGL series provides superior performance and excellent stability. HGL series products are cost-effective solutions for the delivery of hydrogen, with safety built into every component. Cannex Technology will showcase a 16-Way BLDC Motor Thermostat that can control up to 16 fan coil units. This allows users to easily and conveniently adjust the temperature in 16 rooms, making it an excellent choice for office buildings and guest houses. The operation and control of the thermostat is intuitive and can be learned quickly. In addition, the thermostat display scales of 0.5℃ enable precise indoor temperature measurements that can be viewed at a glance, the main display showing current settings, fan speed and room temperature. Moreover, because a BLDC motor enables savings of more than 40 percent on electricity consumption the thermostat reduces the user’s carbon footprint. Self diagnosis tools identify error codes mean problems can be corrected at the earliest possible opportunity and an LED backlight adds elegance to the thermostat. With no relay contacts, the running motor is very quiet with only a very low vibration. Self-regulating RPM values, rotation speed and temperature can be read instantly and adjustments made accordingly.
E Shih Tai’s WiPOS Warm Water Mattress replaces traditional heating with “water-circulation.” This eliminates the risk of radiance, fire and electric shock. The mattress has a temperature control range of 31°C to 45°C and is environmentally-friendly, energy-saving, comfortable and healthy. In winter, the WiPOS Warm Water Mattress creates the perfect environment with its optimal temperature and humidity levels.

Power General Corp. (PGC), founded in 2005 and a pioneer in the field of digital control, has products that include wind turbine generator systems (1kW-10kW/10kW25kW/150kW and above), photovoltaic power generation systems and accessories, solar thermal power generation/utilization systems and accessories. The company will showcase its ZeroCarbon Emission Micro-Grid System, which integrates on-grid or off-grid solar power, small wind power and energy storage systems. PGC’s wind power generation system is the first to pass Taiwan TAF (equivalent to IEC61400-2) test magnets and its wind turbine is CE certified. The company will also display on-grid inverters and off-grid charge controllers for wind and solar power systems.

King Membrane Energy Technology Inc. King Membrane Energy Technology Inc. will showcase its Dicing/Slicing Coolant Recovery System, which is specially designed for the recovery of waste coolant based on advanced membrane technology. No additive is used during recovery, to ensure consistent product quality and maintain the chemical characteristics of the feed fluid. The recovered fluid can be directed back into the dicing process for instant reuse, or mixed with new coolant, which effectively reduces production costs. The system is able to separate micron-size silicon particles/powder from the used coolant and is ideal for silicon wafer dicing and ingot slicing processes. The company offers tailor-made systems that are perfectly adapted to the processes and specific requirements of customers. Other exhibits include an Ethanol/IPA Membrane Recovery System.

Hydropath Technology (Taiwan) The SteamKLEAR S38 will be a highlight at the Hydropath Technology (Taiwan) booth. This device is used in steam boilers, steam ovens, steam rooms, humidifiers and evaporators. Fitting a S38 protects these appliances from the build up of limescale, while removing existing limescale. A special feature is that the S38 is fully enclosed to protect the model from steam. It fits around pipes, is suitable for all types of piping material and works independently of flow rate. The S38 can also be used to manage algae and bacteria problems and to improve filtration in small household aquariums and terrapin tanks through flocculation.

Yuan Chang Tsay Industry Co., Ltd. will showcase its heavy-duty screw press, which has the following features: • Continuously dehydrating treatment to obtain more slurry volume and a steadier solid content rate. • With its washing function design the filter net intermittently washes when running to reduce filter net blockages, thereby consuming less water. • Intermittent or continuous operation with highly efficient steady output • Closed structure design, no pollution – a gas collecting channel and hood are also available. • Automatic control design (including automatically interlocked slurry inlet and outlet). Patent outlet design so there is no synchronous rotation problem with the internal fixed pressure. • Can be installed through steam heating or electric heater to reduce use of water and increase treatment capacity (optional equipment).
