Hilton Head Island Winter Wonder Festival A family-friendly holiday celebration, join Santa and Mrs. Claus for the Hilton Head Island Winter Wonder Festival at Shelter Cove Community Park on Saturday, December 7 from 4-8 p.m. Presented by Pink Magazine to benefit the Hilton Head Island Recreation Association Children’s Scholarship Fund, ages 2-15 can discuss their naughty or nice status with Jolly Ol’ St. Nick, enjoy moon bounces, carnival games, hay rides, face painting, arts & crafts, holiday entertainment and participate in the Golden Candy Cane Hunt. Concessions are sold separately and include cold-weather treats such as hot chocolate, s’mores, hot dogs, pizza and more. Admission fee for children; entry is free for adults. The Sounds of Christmas An Island holiday tradition, the Hilton Head Choral Society presents “The Sounds of Christmas” on December 13 at First Presbyterian Church. Featuring a “musical sleigh full of traditional carols” performed in a variety of styles – from German folk dances to Latin salsa – as well as jazzy tunes from the legendary Dave Brubeck, this yuletide concert is sure to delight all ages and musical tastes. Hilton Head Snow Day While many people head south to escape harsh winter weather, Island residents and visitors look forward to blizzard conditions during the annual Hilton Head Snow Day at Shelter Cove Park. On January 25, snow will cover part of the park and everyone is dressed in warm winter gear to join in snowball fights and make snow angels. Held from 11 a.m.-4 p.m., admission to Snow Day is $10 for ages 2-17 and free for adults. The entry fee includes admission into the snow field, carnival games, blow-up rides and bounce houses. Food and drinks are sold separately. All event proceeds benefit the Hilton Head Island Recreation Association’s Children’s Scholarship Fund, so no child is denied recreation opportunities.
