Canadian National Gelbvieh Wish List Sale

Page 1

From the desk at T Bar...

Welcome to the 2013 Canadian National Gelbvieh Sale…The Wish List. We are very excited to be a part of this event and have worked hard to select a group of cattle that truly any breeder would “wish” to own. The bred heifers are not big in numbers but they are all the right kind, I only wanted the best of the best. The heifer calves selling are the top cut of each program represented, whether you are looking for red or black, a show winner or a front pasture cow, you will find what you are looking for in this group. They also offer a wide variety of genetics that can be used as tools to start a new cornerstone cow family, in your program. November 29th and 30th are two days you cannot afford to miss if you are in the Gelbvieh business; this will be your greatest opportunity to net work with breeders from across North America as well as a huge cross section of commercial producers. As this sale is combined with the Canadian People’s Choice Bull Futurity and the Maternal Edge Commercial Female Sale at VJV in Ponoka, creating a trifecta of Canadian Gelbvieh events. You will have the opportunity to compare, evaluate and purchase genetics in one location that would otherwise take weeks and tanks of fuel to do.

It is an exciting time in Agriculture and specifically in the beef business, as North America attempts to begin the lengthy process of rebuilding badly depleted cow herds. Although the market is strong, when you look back two or three years from now, the purchases you make this fall will be the most reasonable and profitable you will make in the next decade. If we at T Bar C may be of any assistance prior to or sale day, feel free to call Shane, Ted or myself any time. See you in Red Deer.

Heifer Calves

RWG RJH Dyna Lass 1A is a Homozygous Polled, daughter of RWG Xtreme Traction 0521 the 2013 National Western Stock Show’s Reserve Senior Champion Bull. Her dam is RWG RJH Dyna Lass 1Y; an ideal first calf heifer sired by PHG Mr Wizard W27, whose progeny have demanded attention from breeders across North America including multiple high sellers and show winners. The maternal factors of RWG RJH Dyna Lass 1A represents a very dominate Canadian Angus pedigree that stems back to DMM Dyna Lass 10K, and includes other famous Angus names such as: DMM Dynasty 03G, DMM Miss Essence 22B, Greens Premium 7578, and GDAR Oscar 711. This demonstrates an exceptional breed up pedigree, and when combined with breed improving Gelbvieh sires like PHG Mr Wizard W27 and RWG Xtreme Traction 0521, you have a ¾ blood stand out herd bull raising machine or next Donor female. RWG RJH Dyna Lass 1A is also remarkably built with a super clean front end, smooth body pattern with a square true hip set and full deep rear quarter. Plain and simply, she is a standout! This early May heifer calf could truly make an excellent show prospect for anyone and win multiple shows but her true value will be in the progeny she is certain to produce.

Julie 68A is following in the footsteps of her dam and grand dam. Her dam is a broody female with a great udder and is the type of female that catches your eye out in the pasture. Both she and a daughter have reached Dam of Merit status. Her grand dam is the 2002 National Champion Female and dam of many top individuals including the $13,000.00 DF Profit 5P. At 14 years of age, Julie is still running the large three section fields at Lomond Grazing Association. Whether it’s in the show ring, sale ring or pasture, this cow family excels.

Dam Starbright 82A really is a complete package; dark red, multi polled, out of an amazing dam and a sire that really knows how to make them right. Her maternal sibling sold in last year’s Wish List sale for $5000.00 to BNH Livestock. Dam Mikayla 91A is a true testament to just how much we love our 3/4 blood females at Brittain Farms; thick, deep ribbed females that really know how to pack the pounds into their offspring. Don’t let this female pass you by as she is out of an exceptional maternal line backed by 7U who added muscle and fleshiness through all his calves. 91A’s paternal sib, NGC X Rated sold to Prairie Hills Gelbvieh in the 2011 Gelbvieh Advantage Bull Sale.

STON Miss Anita 18A is a fresh set of genetics, wrapped in a very pretty package. She is sired by our Titlelist 1169Y bull from Pearsons in South Dakota, and I can promise you there will not be many of these females to be offered! They are consistent, different pedigreed, and with the maternal lines 1169Y originated from, they will be front pasture cows for anyone. We are proud to offer something new and refreshing for the gene pool, and think you will be more than satisfied when you view 18A.

STON 7A also stems from our Certain Glow cow family, however brings a whole new twist on the sire side! We purchased a semen package from Golden Buckle Gelbvieh in North Dakota on Wrangler, and have been very happy with the results. The cows in the Golden Buckle herd are very consistent, and Wrangler’s mother was one of the top brood matrons we saw, anywhere! This heifer should prove to be a very reliable, profitable cow in the future and we certainly invite you to evaluate her and the rest of the Certain Glow tribe at home!

Dam with 22A

Ember is a stout, long bodied easy fleshing female that has been an eye catcher since she was born; her picture does not do her justice. Her Sire KKC 113Y is a bull that Loren Unger bought from Kal-Kota Ranches out of the states. Ember’s dam won Reserve Champion Heifer Calf at the Provincial Heifer Show in July of 2010. The Dam’s bloodlines go back to the great Fully Exposed bull. If you’re looking for a performance, mellow tempered female with a new genetic bloodline this is the female for you.

Here is a female that has it all, feminine lines, eye appealing and just all around fancy. RTG A326 is a DSP Special Reserve 3X sired female. I purchased DSP 3X from Day Spring Cattle. 3X relates back to Hickory Goal 272K, his grand dam Hickory 57S was at side with 272K in 2006, winning two National Championships. This is RTG’s first 3X calf crop and to prove his progeny, here is a quality sound female with a great breeding background. You just cannot miss this female at our 2013 Wish List Sale. RTG Alexia will be on display and shown at Agribition. Watch for this prospect.

Here is a great opportunity to buy the only Texas Worth daughter we will be selling this year and maybe for quite some time. Texas Worth had his breeding career cut short due to an injury at the end of the 2012 breeding season. His progeny are very impressive with thickness, volume and coloring; he definitely has left his stamp like we were hoping. All these characteristics are shown in 147A, stylish, stout, and backed with a proven pedigree along with being that popular dark red will make her easy to find on sale day. Texas T traces back to another one of our consistent excellent uttered Precision daughters, 125T.

Davidson Ms Moneyman 6A’s sire has to his credits a great group of young progeny that have the goods. Look for a bunch of Moneyman heifers to be in our replacement front pastures in 2014! Her dam is an exceptional maternal female with a beautiful udder and has a very close pedigree to our 2009 NWSS Bull Futurity winner, DVE Davidson Powerhouse 13U. Multiple black and an all polled pedigree round out a classy heifer’s credentials.

SLC Empress 6A is from one of our very best cow families (Empress 54Y); three national champion females in her pedigree. She is a dark red female out of our calving ease sire, SLC Rio Grande 56U; his sons averaged $4700.00 in our bull sale last spring.

Sire Reserve Grand Champion

Dam Deep bodied, finer boned, this gold heifer walks with a swagger as she carries a natural jiggle. The Nesses are impressed with the growth of KCC 101A, considering the cow was only 52” tall and 1175 pounds at weaning. The dam is always an admired cow, as she shows off that expressive calf year after year. Joe predicts she should be a 1300 to 1400 pound mature cow.

Sire

This almost black heifer is still under development and matures best as a yearling, as it has been reported by others and see for yourself on other heifers that are sired by TVR Ultrasonic 9U. She comes from a dam that has full Gelbvieh characteristics that we appreciate, a strong and full udder, puts out calves with vigor. This calf shows a lot of femininity and carries her hindquarters to be a muscle maker. Joe’s prediction: A low maintenance 1400 to 1500 pound cow that will prove great off spring, worth every dollar paid. KCC 97A was weaned August 30, 2013; 44” Hip Height, 622 lbs.

Dam Here is a fancy made female sired by our senior herd sire JRI Tool Time 285X71. He is Homo Polled and is structurally flawless; a bull that we are very high on and are excited about the progeny he is giving us year to year. JRI Tool Time was part of the Champion Pen of Three Bulls in Denver in 2011, and has one of the most influential females in the breed as his grand dam, JRI285A5. Foursquare Ms Autumn’s dam is as well, a Foursquare Rambo sired female that goes back to Foursquare Molly 7M, a three time Dam of Merit and still producing to date. Foursquare MS Autumn is sure to be a top producing, front pasture type female with a ton of natural presence and style. Her genes are loaded and sure to pass on some great progeny in the near future. This is an exceptional single black multiple polled purebred heifer that will be an excellent female to add into any program. Sired by Lonesome Diego 58Y, the only black DVE Trump sired bull to date; this heifer has a pedigree that will be hard to find. Her dam FRSQ 4U is a hard working female sired by Foursquare Rambo, a dark red homo polled bull that we used very successfully in our herd. Foursquare Arielle is long bodied, smooth made and carries a clean front. She should be a great producer with a good ability to milk well with small teats and a neat and tidy udder, with some proven performance in her grand dam on her sires side, DVE Ms Behaven 14P, recently named a Dam od Distinction for 2013. Igenity profile results will be posted sale day.

We wanted to do something special for this year’s Wish List Sale so we decided to offer choice on two very closely related black purebred heifer calves right off the top of our replacement pen. The dams of these two females sisters and both heifer calves are sired by our new herd sire RWG Xposed 0549. Xposed has a stacked pedigree that needs no introduction and his calendar year maternal brother who garnered a lot of attention at the Royal Western field day will be retained by the Hollmans. COX Selena 16S, the dam of 16A is a heavy milking flawless uddered, deep bodied cow that never lets us down. She has sons working in commercial herds in BC and daughters working at home. 16D is the the grand dam of both lots. 16A is an early March calf that boasts a ton of shape and style already and if we had been showing this year, she would have been part of the team. 160A is a month younger, only an April calf, and while she is a touch more moderate in her makeup, she is no slouch either. We would be happy to take either of these heifer calves home, so we will let you be the judge and pick the one that best suits your program.

A Little Bit Of Sugar is just that - she’s sweet. Check out her birth date; only an end of March calf but no shortage of power in this female. This heifer is a maternal sister to the 2011 National Champion Balancer Female at Farmfair, COX Sugar And Spice 24Y who later went on to be the high selling heifer calf at the 2011 Wish List Sale at $5300.00 to Severtson Land & Cattle. If you’re looking for a balancer female, this heifer calf is rock solid and looks to follow in her mother and sister’s footsteps. These pictures don’t do her justice and if we didn’t have two sons and two other daughters in the herd, 24A would not be for sale.

For breeders looking to add a cornerstone purebred female to your program, here is an amazing opportunity. The choice between DDN Belly River Zed-X 230Z and DDN Belly River Zendi 286Z gives the buyer the right to take their choice between these two ¾ sisters. They both come from “W” model year ELK CK Iron Horse 42T daughters that both represent top producing cow families at Nelson Gelbvieh. ELK CK Iron Horse 42T sired the high selling bred heifer at the 40th Anniversary National Sale and has left a very influential set of progeny to carry on his name. Both of the bred heifers are sired by RWG Fed-X 0411, a powerhouse RWG Traction 7412 son who has caught a lot of interest for his individual strengths and the quality of his progeny. RWG Fed-X 0411 has flawless calving ease, balanced with maternal strength and comes from an extremely productive cow family and is a maternal brother to RWG Fire & Ice 1604. The EPD profile on these two bred heifers also puts them into their own league with great calving ease, low birth weight, lots of performance and great maternal numbers ,thus, providing the foundation to raise herd bulls that will help shape our breed’s future. Both of these elite bred heifers are safe in calf to FLAD Dracula 57Y who is co-owned with Royal Western Gelbvieh. FLAD Dracula 57Y has left an absolutely impressive first calf crop in both programs. His progeny have already caught the attention of numerous purebred breeders who have seen them. The uniqueness of this lot is simple; this will be the first chance to own a RWG Fed-X 0411 daughter, who will be only the second female to sell with ELK CK Iron Horse 42T blood and the pregnancy will represent only the second time FLAD Dracula 57Y progeny/service will sell. Don’t Miss a True Opportunity. Both heifers have been exposed to FLAD Dracula 57Y from April 1 to June 5, 2013; then exposed to STON Xplosive 5X from June 5 to June 27, 2013.

Her sire was a high seller from the successful Lazy MC Angus program. Her mating to our predictable Tiree sire will only capitalize on her already strong genetic base. 5D Here is a very eye catching bred heifer. She has an abundance of volume and length with a strong top line. Her sire’s daughters are some of our best young females that are going to have a very positive influence on our program. He is an ET son from the 2005 Sweetheart Champion. Tammy’s dam was purchased from FarmFair as a calf and has turned into a broody high producing female. She comes from a very strong cow family and has some powerful sires in her pedigree including the herd sire maker DEG Peso and the Futurity Champion WGG Flashpoint. Her mating to 5D will only add to her value.

AI bred to ATC Gold Star Polled 5D on April 24, 2013. Pasture exposed to SA Birch’s Off Road 160Y from May 1 to May 30, 2013. Pasture exposed to AWB Brich’s BLK Powder 37Z ET.

Dam Wow this girl has it all, deep, thickness, meaty, capacity; oh yes, the only thing missing is a neck. Yes we are pretty sure when the vet comes to preg check her, he will poke at her side and mention she hasn’t missed dinner. The Nesses named her… petite that carries natural fleshiness and thickness. As they are just as amazed by the quality of dams in her history reputation. There is a reason why JOE 428Z is in the show string for the 2013 season. As a new yearling, she was full of eye appeal, and inquiring inquisitive politeness on where she stands today, they will back her up fully. She is exposed to Zebra 237Z, an easy calving bull with a CE: 11, BW 79 pounds, sired by COLB Mr. Xavier X812 that has a lot of thickness. If calving in January isn’t in your program, then there’s a plan, let her come back home and pick her up in March. Pasture exposed to TVR Zebra 237Z from March 30 to June, 2013.

SS Joyce should have named her “AWESOME” or “STAND OUT SQUARE” because she’s a real keeper for any producing cattle program. JLD 263Z a finer boned bred, square profiled with capacity at the hip, that does show some broodiness, but really that’s what makes good bull calves. This moderate sized bred comes from a 1269 pound cow that gives it her all. For the 2013 calving season, the dam VV Wanda 6W produced one of the heaviest bull calves at the Ness’s. B236Z is bred to Zebra, an easy calving bull with a CE: 11, BW 79 pounds, sired by COLB Mr. Xavier X812 that has a lot of thickness. If calving in January isn’t in your program, then there’s a plan, let her come back home and pick her up in March.

Bred Heifers

Our bred entry into the National Sale is a true highlight of our program, and the culmination of years of planned matings. STON 12Z was a top placing heifer in the National Show last year, and stems from our Certain Glow cow family originating from Judd Ranch. Her sire is none other than Outback, the sire of several National Champions over the last few years, and most importantly the sire of cattle that simply work. With our first set of Starbucks calves on the ground, the coupon she is carrying will certainly not disappoint. Buy with confidence, the guess work has been eliminated! Exposed to JRI Starbucks 254Y82 from April 2 to June 23, 2013. Confirmed safe for an early January bull calf.
