Welcome To The 1st Annual Still Meadows Bull Sale... Welcome to our 1st Annual Bull Sale. We are humbled and excited here at Still Meadows to be hosting this event at B.C. Livestock Yards in Kamloops, in conjunction with the RRTS Charolais Bull Sale. Our families moved from the Lloydminster area in 1957 and settled in the Enderby area where my Dad, George had a dairy farm. Our families history in British Columbia runs wide and deep across this great province. Bev Moore, my wife, her relations are the Humphrey’s that ranch in the Knutsford area also she is related to Judy Guichon, the current Lieutenant Governor of B.C. Along with the dairy we ran a few beef cattle as well our kids were very involved in local sports around Salmon Arm, especially hockey. In 2003 we acquired some property at Langley and I began my dream of operating a purebred Black Angus herd in B.C. Our original herd was started with the purchase of 10 bred females and a bull from Tafika Ranch, Wayne & Jill Hughes at Lumby. As we grew our herd the need for new genetics and more top quality Angus females were sought out. My searches lead me to Jonathan Fox of Justamere Farms. We have acquired several females and bulls from Jon & Shelly and their family. We have successfully shown our cattle with Justamere at the IPE where we exhibited Supreme Champion Bull in 2016. We have also added cattle from the Remitall operation in Alberta, Atlasta Angus, Mr Brian Sutter, as well Blairs.Ag in Saskatchewan, Maple Line Farm in Ontario and Express Ranches in Oklahoma. Locally we have purchased from East View Farm, John Appleby, also a consignor to this sale, Poplar Meadows, CTF Angus & Harvest Angus. Our herd now consists of 60 top quality registered females. My philosophy on breeding cattle has always been to have a cow big enough and efficient to raise a top quality high performing calf without sacrificing calving ease, udder quality or structural soundness. Also it is a must for all of us at Still Meadows that the cattle are quiet and easy to get along with. With the use of AI, superior walking sires, Embryo Transplant and proven performance data, we are very excited to offer this great set of 25 Angus Bulls to our fellow ranchers and cattlemen in BC. As you go through the catalog and the pedigrees and the visual inspection of the bulls at the sale we hope you see the pattern we are trying to aspire too. We want quiet bulls that will calve easy for you and raise the calves to weigh up in the fall at weaning time. It takes a lot of dedicated people to get to this point. We want to thank our staff, Warren, Mario & Linda at the main operation, Sharon in the office at Langley. Also at our Sunnybrae Ranch at Tappen BC, my brother Reg and Donna Ayre and their son Jack, they run the replacement females at this operation and plans are to expand and host our first ever purebred female sale at this beautiful location on the Shuswap Lake in the fall of 2019, please accept this as your invitation to attend. From Justamere Farms... What an exciting time in Agriculture, especially the cattle business! As I write this introduction to Still Meadows very first bull sale, I can’t help b be thankful for the Purebred business, especially the Angus business. A few short years ago a gentleman and his daughter drove into our yard at Justamere, they said they had been admiring our Angus cattle for many years in the pastures around Justamere, and also that they were originally from the Lloydminster area, but now resided in Langley BC. They had a small Angus herd and were looking to add to it, some special cows and bloodlines that they could improve their program with, of course I am talking about Mr. Ken Ayre. We made a deal that day on a very special bull Justamere Mile High 601B. As Ken and his daughter Anita drove out of the yard I could tell that I had just met a very special man and I was fortunate to be in this business. Still Meadows has quickly moved up in the Angus business through constant genetic selection and upgrading, Ken is very thorough when talking about what he wants his herd to be. He strives for calving ease, matched with growth backed up by solid performance data in a phenotypically pleasing package. Also, they had better be cattle that are easy to work with, there is no tolerance for unruly or bad attitude cattle at Still Meadows. Ken has made many purchases not only at Justamere, but also Express Ranches, Remitall Farms, Atlasta Angus, Running Steady, Hollinger Land & Cattle, Poplar Meadows, East View Farm, Harvest Angus and Tafika Angus, Wayne & Jill Hughes. The Tafika cattle are the back bone of the herd as they are the original Angus that Ken started with. I am excited to see the first Annual Still Meadows Bull Sale come to be. It has been a great process these past 4 or 5 years getting the operation to the point of being able to offer 25 top quality 2- year old and yearling bulls also John Appleby of East View Farm has consigned 3 good yearling bulls to the sale as well. John of course has sold at the Williams Lake bull sale and the Provincial sales and has a very common sense practical cow herd that are designed to survive and thrive in any climate or condition. Still Meadows has sold bulls by private treaty, or at the Pride of the Prairies bull sale or at the Justamere bull sale, both in Lloydminster. Still Meadows had Champion pen of 3 bulls at the Lloyd Bull Sale in 2017 and had a very good sale averaging over $4000.00 on 6 bulls. The bulls on offer to you good ranch folks are Ken’s best, he is holding nothing back. The 2-Year old bulls are performance oriented bulls that are very sound and good footed, there is even a 3- Year old herd sire that was a clean up on some commercial heifers at the Sunnybraeranch in Salmon Arm area. The yearling bulls are a taste of the future of Still Meadows great Program. ET sons sired by Koupals Kozi 418 and EXAR King 1036, several sons by the breed leading Justamere Mile High 601B and Justamere Insight818C, also some excellent sons of Tafika Kodiak 67A, the gentle giant in the herd bull pen at Still Meadows. Lastly, I have been in the cattle business my entire life, my Grandfather Jonathan was a legend in this great business he even had 2 ranches in BC over the years. My Grandfather and Father Lyal have always instilled in me that doing business with good people is to be cherished and I can assure you that I cherish working with Ken and his family. The bulls will be fully guaranteed, semen tested and delivery will be arranged and looked after properly. The bulls can go back to Langley for a month after the sale if need be, but Ken Asks that all bulls returning to Still Meadows be insured.
