From the desk at T Bar...

Welcome to the 2015 Canadian Western Agribition and Canadian Gelbvieh Show and Sale. This annual event has been the source of elite quality and genetic advancement in the Gelbvieh breed. In a sale of this stature where all consignments are selected from the top of their individual herds, breeders can discover a donor female or a front pasture female to develop a new cow family using the breed’s cutting-edge genetics. The past year in the beef cattle industry has been exciting and rewarding...and that might be an understatement. Purebred breeders and cow-calf producers have realized healthy benefits after weathering the past decade of uncertain markets and mother nature’s seldom unkindness... rewards that have been long time coming. Now we are in a situation where we need inventory and more than ever....are being rewarded for the degree of quality. As we attempt to restock the North American beef herd, maternal assets....milk, udder type, longevity and temperament come to the forefront, boding well for Gelbvieh and Gelbvieh influence. The watchwords for the next decade will be “more” and “maternal.” Our line-up for the sale is stellar with unlimited opportunities for breeders large and small. This elite offering will move the breed forward along with those who choose to own them. If we, at T Bar C, may be of assistance prior to or sale day, feel free to call Shane, Ted, myself or any of our T Bar staff and we will be pleased to assist. See you in Regina, Chris Poley

The Sweetheart Gelbvieh Classic The Man-Sask Gelbvieh Association is pleased to present the 16th Sweetheart Gelbvieh Classic, a people’s choice female futurity to be part of the Canadian Western Agribition Gelbvieh Show in November 2015. The Sweetheart Classic is open to any age of Gelbvieh female entered in the regular Canadian Western Agribition Gelbvieh Show. Four finalists will be brought to the sale where winners will be announced. Futurity members may enter their females until November 23. The futurity entry fee is $100.00 per head, with a maximum of two (2) entries per membership. Memberships to the futurity will be sold for $300.00 which entitles the member to judge (one ballot) the Sweetheart Classic. Members must be present to vote. No proxy vote allowed. Members will also be entered into a draw to win the proceeds from the sale of the Sweetheart Classic Champion or the Futurity, whichever is lesser. 50% of this prize will be given as cash and the remaining 50% will be a sale credit. The sale credit can be used at the 2015 Agribition Sale. The people’s choice judging of the Sweetheart Classic will take place immediately following the Gelbvieh Bull Show. The Female Gelbvieh Show will commence upon the completion of this portion of the futurity. At the end of the Gelbvieh Female show, the top four (4) females as selected by the futurity members will be announced in random order. The following day, at the Canadian Western Agribition Sale, the Sweetheart Classic Champion will be announced and then auctioned off as the feature lot. The consignor of the Champion Female will retain the right to one flush at their expense and the owner’s convenience. The second place Sweetheart winner will receive a $500.00 Agribition sale voucher. To vote online and view the females, or for more information, contact Trevor Burks, 306-715-7476 or Cynthia Wirgau, 204-278-3255.

RWG Bubble Buster 4507 has stood out as the concept of true power from only a couple weeks of age. He has always displayed the extra mass and capacity we all love to see in cattle with true power and has consistently been the BEAS 2806Z son with the most natural substance and muscle. That in itself is remarkable when you stop to consider the impressive list of paternal brothers BEAS 2806Z has already produced in his short time; including some of the most talked about and admired bulls at NWSS 2015. Bubble Buster is also backed by an extremely productive cow family. His dam PHG Scarlett Z15 was also purchased as the high selling heifer calf at the 2012 National Sale. She is sired by the awesome muscle adding, female making sire RWG Why-Me 9515 (from the Goodnight cow family) and just like the rest of her sisters PHG Z15 displays excellent udder quality, tons of natural shape, and real world production. RWG Bubble Buster 4507 = True continental Power!

Xavier cattle continue to accelerate to the top of the breed and consistently offer calving ease, top notch performance, breed leading carcass and most important, he makes extremely productive daughters. His dam RWG Your Goodnight 1539 is a beautiful RWG Texas Worth 9223 daughter who has consistently produced exceptional progeny; she will be a part of our 2015 Agribition show string with her calendar year heifer calf at foot. Her dam ULL 5T ET was purchased from the 2007 National Sale as the high selling heifer calf. This deep, powerful heifer is a real eye catcher! We knew the moment she was born that she was going to be special. This is no surprise as her beautifully uddered two year old dam is a direct daughter of our donor dam and National Champion Female, AR Julie 14J. Many will also recognize her grandsire, Atlas, as one of the most proven black sires in the breed. When you combine trustworthy genetics such as these with Fir River Exposure, the results are as complete a package as you will find. With him as her sire it also makes his dam, the Sweetheart Futurity winner Fir River Mercedes 1P, part of Julie 1C’s stacked pedigree. Exposure has done a tremendous job in our program, most notably being the sire of the high selling lot in the 2014 Wish List Sale and also of Birch’s Bulldozer who is seeing herdsire duties at Towerview Ranch. With only a 77 pound birth weight, Julie 1C exploded and weaned with an impressive 205 adjusted weight of 743 pounds! The impact of this cow family is just starting on our program and we are confident this thick haired, dark red beauty will leave her own mark.

FLAD Call Girl 105C has been a favorite all along. She is dark in color, fancy, very stout, with a moderate birth weight of 83 pounds. She is the first progeny to sell off her sire FLAD Boogyman 28A, the 2014 CWA National Grand Champion Bull. Her paternal grand dam, FLAD 110P is a true foundation cow in our herd. She was the 2010 Reserve Champion Female at CWA, raised us herd bulls, put a string of top end females with fantastic udders in our herd and has our number one bull calf (again) in the pen this year who will be on display at CWA. FLAD Call Girl 105C will be shown along-side her dam TIP 93W at CWA. We purchased her dam TIP 93W from the Thackerays out of the CWA sale as a bred heifer and she has been nothing short of awesome giving progeny with power, style and great udders. She will be our main donor cow in 2016. Both Call Girl’s sire FLAD Boogyman 28A and her dam TIP 93W will be at CWA this year. Not too often you have a chance to add a female to your herd where the breeders are so confident in her pedigree that the dam and sire are both on display at the top cattle show in Canada.

Clean fronted, wide topped, and with an awesome rib - she has future donor written all over her. I don’t know if we’ve ever worked with a female who is as puppy dog tame as Rosie. This cool red heifer has been my four year olds training heifer, and for good reason! Her sire is RWG Yikes 1512, the $30,000 record setting bull we purchased out of this very sale in 2012. His first daughter sold as the pick of our show string at last year’s National Sale for $7500. Her dam has a storied pedigree herself - Her maternal grandmother is PHG S11, dam of the high selling female at the 2012 Canadian National Sale. Payday is no stranger either, siring herd bulls for Davidson Gelbvieh and Stone Gate Farms. This girl would be great for anyone looking for a 4-H starter heifer, or looking for that next front pasture female! Double Polled.

Choice of Flush between Two Elite Donors Overby Stock Farm is offering the opportunity to purchase a flush from one of the two donors in our embryo program, SLC Anita 122R or SLC Smoke 15X. SLC Anita 122R was National Senior Cow/Calf Champion at Agribition in 2012 with her son, OSF Brett Favre 14Z at her side. Brett Favre is now the senior herdsire at Overby Stock Farm, combining excellent performance and curve bending calving ease. An ET daughter, OSF Anita 101B ET, was second in class at Agribition last year and will be part of the show string in 2015. A powerful ET son of 122R will also be on the show road this fall, showcasing the consistent quality she produces. Overby Stock Farm’s entire 2015 show string has 122R in their pedigree, either as the dam or paternal grand dam.

SLC Smoke 15X is an up and coming donor at Overby Stock Farm but her track record speaks for herself. 15X was the Reserve Junior Champion Female at Agribition in 2011 and Reserve Senior Cow/Calf Champion at Manitoba Livestock Expo in 2013. Her son, OSF Frozen Tundra 7A was the leadoff bull at the Western Gateway Bull Sale in 2015 and her son, OSF Tundra Buggy 16B is Overby Stock Farm’s junior herdsire. With producing these two impressive sons, the decision was simple to include 15X in the donor program. Flush to be completed by Swan Valley Veterinary Clinic. Guarantee a minimum of six embryos. All flush, semen and shipping costs are the responsibility of the purchaser.
