Sale Information From the desk at T Bar... There is no substitute for quality whether it be a breeding program and the resulting offspring, the breeders or the event....the third Sunday of October in Arcola, Saskatchewan is that special tradition of quality. No doubt, the breeders that host this annual Polled Hereford happening are no strangers to the livestock industry and the breed. Each and everyone is competitive in nature and several have a track record for being “damn competitive!” But the growing strength of their programs can been seen in the overwhelming success of their bull sale and their rancher demand....the proof that they are on the right avenue to fulfill the industry needs. Each year this sale offers unlimited opportunities....show prospects for juniors and those who want to feel like juniors.... in the past, many have gone on in a competitive manner.... in addition a solid offering of bred heifers ... all carrying “cutting-edge” genetics to move your program forward in this exciting livestock industry.
Sale Management
On this fun filled day of excitement, there will be a hint of sadness as we will miss Don Wray who was a great part of our fellowship and a true Hereford enthusiast. The livestock industry and the Hereford breed is rapidly moving forward...with no time for those who hesitate and wait. Salvage prices are high...it’s time for young futuristic replacements. Plan to be a part of the “Sweepstakes Weekend” for wonderful fellowship and some of the nation’s quality Polled Hereford seed stock... come early on Sunday, view the offering, be guests for a noon luncheon and don’t be late for Duncan’s risqué opening story.
Watch and bid live at:
On behalf of the Lees, Wilsons, Mitchells, Wray and Freitags, this is your invitation to be with us for a quality experience in this exciting breed. If we, at T Bar C, may be of any assistance, prior to or sale day, do not hesitate to give Shane, Ted or myself a call. See you at Duncan’s, Chris Poley

This Plainsman daughter just might be Duncan’s favorite. Length, muscle, strength over-thetop power female. The easy doing kind. Dam is a nice cow we purchased from Elm Lodge going back to Haroldson’s Colbi and Premier 155K. Udder quality in this cow line is fantastic.

Times A’ Wastin out of donor dam 35W. We have two embryo full sisters or Jeff would never agree to let this one go. Really flashy, nicely pigmented and so much depth and spring of rib. She will turn heads on sale day and again when she wears leather.

There will be a lot of controversy regarding our heifer calf offering. They are without question the strongest group we have ever assembled. Trudy 10C is out of a Major daughter that is also the grandmother of Lot 6. 10C has tremendous shape, lots of barrel, front end extension, dark colored, red eyed. She definitely has the look!
Beautiful squarely made heifer. Wide based, thick topped and sweet fronted. Her dam, purchased from Harvey Duke can get it done.

Just out of a two year old Heater daughter Zsa Zsa has length, width and depth of body. Pretty fronted, she will be fun to lead when she gets dressed up.

Here’s your chance to get one of the first Action 106A daughters to sell this fall. She is deep bodied, thick and structurally correct. With all that, and being short marked with just the right amount of pigment; she’ll catch your eye in the show ring or later as a cow in the pasture. Her young mother has a pefect udder, great milk flow, and marked just like her. Her first calf by Tank 10W is being retained for our own herd. Juniors take note!

Jessica has been an all-time favorite around here since she was two months of age. She is a female that is perfect in her structure with that extra extension and presence about her that says “look at me.” Her mother 751U from the Thurstons is a phenomenal producer who just doesn’t miss no matter how you mate her. 71A is a full sibling to the National Champion, Delta, Jessica 60X (mother of 15C) who is making her own mark, as well as many half siblings who have been past champions and high sellers. Her sire, Anchor is our all time high selling bull who has done a tremendous job and is out of our famed Mira 62K cow. Take advantage of this opportunity. She was pasture exposed to Apothis 38B (this years high selling bull) from June 1 to July 15, 2015. Observed bred on June 1.

We feel Resource is a bull that has a lot to offer. He is stout made with a big turn to his top and an abundance of shape to his hip and stifle. He is extra long which coupled with his great color and markings really set him apart. His sire needs no introduction as he has sired more champions in the last decade than any other bull in the breed. Obviously we love his mother and the “big time” influence which her lineage represents. Investment time here!

In Memory of Don Wray WRAY, DON
June 13, 1955 – January 26, 2015
Don was born in Reston on June 13, 1955, the third son of John and Mabel Wray of Tilston. He was raised on the farm at Tilston with his elder brothers, Bill and Ken and his younger sister Sharon. Don was a true farm boy, milking cows from an early age and doing chores and whatever other tasks his parents assigned. Don had a deep love and true respect for both of his parents, and appreciated all they had done to help him. Don lived all of his life in the Tilston district. He started school at Tilston and finished at Pierson, graduating in 1973. Don loved sports, playing baseball and hockey into his adult life, and later coached Tylers’ ball teams. After school, Don began farming with his Dad and brother Ken, raising mixed grains, cattle and sometimes pigs. They also began building their registered Polled Hereford herds. In 1974 Don began dating Wanda Millions and they were married in 1981. When their father retired from farming, Don and Ken continued their partnership and were still working together at the time of Don’s passing. Don and Wanda decided to blend their names, and called their operation Mil-Wray Polled Herefords. The cattle were mostly owned separately, but were always worked together. Don and Ken had such a strong, unique bond. They were very different men in many ways, and in other ways so very similar. Their ability to co-operate and get things done in an efficient manner was a marvel to many. Some days they barely spoke as they went about their chores, but they knew what needed to be done, and they did it. There is no-one on this earth who Don admired or respected more than he did Ken. Ken and Judy’s children Jaime, Derek, and Brett were like his own. He and Wanda didn’t have grandkids yet, but they borrowed Ken and Judy’s all the time. Lily, Lucas, Hadlee and Spencer were very special to him. Don and Wanda welcomed their son Tyler into their family in 1987, and daughter Lenna in 1990. This began the most important, all consuming job of Don’s life. He was an incredible husband and dad. His family, and especially his kids, were always his first priority. He juggled chores around their activities, spending countless hours chauffeuring them. If they were going, he was there. He was often asked how he kept it all straight, and he would laugh and say he didn’t. He just got in the car and waited for Wanda or one of the kids to tell him where he was going! Don truly was a big bear of a man, who would do anything to help anyone. He disliked being the center of attention. He had a quiet, hilarious way of telling stories about the most ordinary things, and would have everyone smiling and laughing in no time. An important part of Don’s life were the business and personal relationships that he developed in the Hereford industry. Don had mentors who were important to him in his early years in the business, and young breeders who considered him a mentor now. Don formed lasting friendships with countless cattle friends, but became particularly close to his partners in The Blair Athol-Haroldson’s sale group. He travelled many miles with Neil, Duncan, Wally, Greg, Jeff, Jarret and Chad. Neil, the master of nicknames, saddled him with “The Duke” many years ago, and it stuck!! He told Wanda many times that he sometimes hated cows, but that his cattle friends made it all OK. Don’s goal was to be part of the sale for twenty years. Sadly that won’t happen. His death has left a hole in the hearts and lives of his entire family that can never be filled. Don will be missed by everyone who knew him. This year’s sale is dedicated in memory of Don.
