INCANDESCENT LIGHTING The incandescent lamp consists of a wire filament on a suitable mount enclosed in a glass bulb containing a gas or a vacuum. When the lamp is connected to an electrical circuit, the current passing through the wire must overcome the filament’s resistance, and the power consumed heats the filament to incandescence (causes it to glow).
