I wrote this to Mr. Aaron Lee from the JUT Art Foundation, Taiwan: Text by Marco Casagrande ”I was constructing a traditional Fujien –style tile roof in my T-Factory Ruin using a mixture of ”flexible” concrete (cement, sand, lime, seaweed) that the local farmers had thought me. With this ”flexible” concrete the roof tiles would survive the earthquakes and typhoons. During the work I saw that some bees were stealing my concrete from the bucket and flew away somewhere with it. This continued for some days. I wondered, what were the bees doing with concrete – where they able to digest it? We were sleeping in the upper floor of the T-Factory and used that floor most of the time for our activities. Downstairs was quieter. One day I found out downstairs, what the bees had been doing with my concrete. They had built a collective cocoon for their offspring mixing concrete with soil and some small stones. After the metamorphosis was complete I observed this cocoon and learned from it.
