1. Finely chop the mint and coriander, and add to a mixing bowl with the lamb, crushed garlic and cumin. 2. Thoroughly mix all of the ingredients together and seperate into 5 equal portions.
INGREDIENTS 500g Lean Minced Lamb Handful of fresh Mint Handful of fresh Coriander 2 Crushed Garlic Cloves 1 Tspn Ground Cumin

Cook the onion in a saucepan until soft and tender and add the Tomato Sauce, Worcestershire sauce, Sugar, Vinegar and Chilli Powder. 2. Cook until boiling, whilst stirring continuosly. 3. Place in a bowl until chilled then marinate your chicken or baste your chicken whilst on the BBQ.

ucia Davies has been a Children's Entertainer working in the private sector for over 25 years on the Northwest Children's Party Circuit, her remarkable reputation as a Storyteller precedes her. On the 15 January 2015, her career path was about to change forever. She started a new chapter in her life by bringing a story she wrote over 20 years ago to Self Publish and Print. She set out to break into the industry of Children's Literature in her own unique way. Protocol would normally be to submit a manuscript to several publishers or employ a literary agent. t Ann’s Hospice is calling for local people to get behind its latest fundraising campaign by wearing their pyjamas to work or school this July. The hospice – which has sites in Heald Green, Little Hulton and at Wythenshawe Hospital – needs to raise around £16,000 every single day to keep its doors open, and is hoping this latest appeal will help do just that. Hannah Saunders from the hospice fundraising team explained: “We’re asking people to make a donation of £1 or £2 to St Ann’s and wear their PJs in support of the hospice. People are already signing up to take part and you can get involved however you want to – from having business meetings in your nightshirt, to holding a PJ Party and making all of your mates join you in their onesies! “Every penny raised will help us to continue supporting the thousands of local people with cancer and other lifelimiting illnesses that we care for, so please do put on your PJs and support us this July.” svponline.co.uk

Walthew Warriors PROVE SIGHT LOSS IS NO LONGER BARRIER IN SPORT

wo members of the Walthew Warriors team have completed the first leg of their Swim and Cycle Challenge 2015 in support of Walthew House which is an independent charity based in Shaw Heath. Phil Allen, who is visually impaired and Ruth Hind, who acts as his sighted guide swimmer completed the two mile open water swim in Lake Windermere. Phil explains a bit about the challenge, “There are a few big differences between open water swimming and doing it in a pool. For a start, lakes are colder and deeper.
There is no possibility of taking a rest by putting your feet down or holding on to the side. In the absence of lane markings, it is tough swimming in the right direction and getting it wrong (even a bit) will make you swim further.” The next challenge is tandem riding coast to coast in a day in September, proving that sight loss needn’t be a barrier to taking part in sport. he Stockport Plaza brings us this years pantomime, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs! Hoping for the same success after last years box office record breaker, Cinderella, The Stockport Plaza manager, Ted Doan, has again recruited the expertise of David Vickers and Richard Chandler to entertain us all throughout the festive period. David and Richard bring with them an all star cast to guarantee that the story of Snow White and her band of Dwarfs, that we all know so well, is the tale told in the way it was meant to, but also to ensure laughter all round. Muddles, the Jester is played by the energetic Bradley Thompson, a young actor with plenty of experience in pantomime. The role of
a jester couldn’t be more suited to Bradley who bounces around the stage, with fun written across his face. Everybody would associate Snow White with somebody of immense beauty and glamour, and with recasting last years Cinderella, this is exactly what we have. Becky Bennett seems as though she could play Snow White in her sleep, which is a good job really considering the story line. To have any kind of production of Snow White, we all know that Snow must meet her Prince Charming, and Charming is what the crowd of the Plaza shall get. Bradley Clarkson is no stranger to the stage or the limelight, having been a finalist on ITV’s Grease Is The Word.
The two headline stars of the show are two very familiar faces, firstly we have Kim Hartman who portrayed Helga in the legendary sitcom, ‘Allo ‘Allo. Our Wicked Queen comes from one of the best sitcoms ever, so laughs a plenty are a certainty. In this years Panto, our Dame, Nurse Glucose, is played by the man everybody knows as Jimmy Corkhill from Brookside. Dean Sullivan is possibly the best Dame you will ever see!! AIRPORT RELIEF ROAD SCHEME cleared for work to start .... The A6 to Manchester Airport Relief Road Scheme is planned to provide 10 kilometres of new 2-lane dual carriageway on an east-west route from the A6 near Hazel Grove (south east Stockport), via the 4 kilometres of existing A555 to Manchester Airport and the link road to the M56. Work has finally started on the £290m Manchester Airport Relief Road after the government removed the final hurdle to the scheme. Patrick McLoughlin, the secretary of state for transport, has agreed with the council’s compulsory purchase orders to buy land for the road following a public inquiry last September. The two-week inquiry heard from over 50 objectors
against the council buying their land. Documents showed the council set aside £33.2m for acquisition costs, land agents fees, public inquiry costs and claims. The government has also approved alterations to side roads involved with the scheme, known as side road orders, and approved the building on public open space.
The 10km dual carriageway will link the A6 at Hazel Grove to the M56 at Manchester Airport via the existing A555 in Bramhall. The idea was first talked about in the 1930s and the three councils involved Stockport, Manchester City and Cheshire East finally approved the application - in early 2014. Preparation work has already started and some

eenage Market, created in Stockport, is being replicated across the UK in 21 towns, with more towns keen to take on the model of success! Mary Portas, government advisor for The Portas Review, described Stockport’s Teenage Market, which is a pioneering national market initiative that offers free market stalls to young creative entrepreneurs, as “unique, inspiring and game-changing”. Clare Rayner, founder of the Future High Street summit believes “The Teenage Market is championing an independent spirit that’s so vital to the future success of our town centres.” Teenage Market was developed in April 2012 by Stockport brothers Joe and Tom Barratt, then aged 19 and 17, as a way of attracting young people to visit and shop in the town’s historic market area. winning £55k from Stockport Council’s Business Challenge Fund to turn the idea into a sustainable business. personal talents through the initiative. usic fans got the full festival experience at Stockport’s recent Headlander Festival – fondly referred to as Glastonbury of the North. Thousands flocked to the festival …despite the rain and partied all weekend! Amongst them…We are Stockport! The event, which is in its third year, is held at Stockport Rugby Club on Headlands

Music plays a huge part of Headlander, and this year the four stages included acts form Roachford, beatbox harmonica player Son of Dave, and From The Jam featuring Bruce Foxton, original bassist with iconic band The Jam.
As well as the live music, a family fun day was held on Saturday that featured a range of activities including music workshops, bouncy castles, circus skills, rides, music workshops and amusements. There were magicians, storytellers and stilt walkers, performances from local theatre groups such as Romiley’s NK Theatre Arts, and a Trade Village hosted by We are Stockport with local crafts, food and drink. Rachel Wallace, Place Campaign Manager for We are Stockport, said: “It was fabulous to host the Trade Village – we met some terrific people who had great products and services. It was a delight to speak to so many people and hear about their stories and events. We are Stockport is a publishing platform here for the people of Stockport – so please send me your news, stories, events and photos so I can make sure that we are truly celebrating our great borough!” Rachel also compared I Love Bramhall’s Open Mic competition and helped judge the acts which 21 year old Kimmy Beatbox won.

The Christian charity offers a large selection of secondhand furniture, household goods and computers at knockdown prices from its Meadow Mill address, on Water Street, Stockport. All the goods are refurbished items, or good as new, donated to the charity by members of the public. Renewal North West was started almost ten years ago as a computer renovation operation, in the roof-space of a church building. Then, after an initial move, it relocated to its current venue, selling second-hand white goods - fridges, freezers, washing machines - household goods, laptops, and renovating used furniture. The charity grew with the aim of helping long-term unemployed people break svponline.co.uk
down the barriers that prevent them from working, and provide furniture and household items to those struggling to set up home on a limited budget. It operates a community computers scheme that makes laptops and PCs available more cheaply to those on benefits. “We are supported by the Christian Church, at Brownwood Hall, Wythenshawe,” says technical manager Chris Bennett. Members of the church sit as trustees on the charity’s board. As well as the household goods, Renewal operates The Rinascente Gallery, a large showroom filled to the brim with vintage, hand-painted and industrial furniture. “It has opened up a different market,” says Chris. “It is aimed at people with more money to spend on something that’s unique.” The charity has been particularly successful in offering a line of bespoke
industrial tables”, says Chris. “And we have recently started getting into the gardening side of things,” says Chris. Customers can now order landscaping requirements from the charity. It operates an online shop, where customers can browse through the goods and order online. The Renewal operation is run by Wes Downs, general manager and trustee, along with a management team. Sometimes as many as 14 additional workers, who include volunteers and those on work placements, work on site. The store is open to the public and no referral is needed. The New Ford MUSTANG 50 years not out and now at last the Ford Mustang is coming to the UK. Yes the Ford Mustang is coming to the UK as a fully-fledged model, available to buy from dealers and as a right-hand drive model. The Mustang is available with two power outputs, the sensible 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine producing 309bhp or you could go all-out and choose the 413bhp 5.0-litre V8 engine – well it’s not a real Mustang if it hasn’t a V8 under the bonnet – go on you know you want to. On the looks front, the Mustang has taken bits off the original car and the design team led by Scottish born Moray Callum is a car to be proud of. It is certainly a Mustang but with a modern look. Rivals including the Audi A5 and the BMW 4 Series will be watching their rear view mirrors with a nervous twitch,
the Mustang is a halo car and it is a model that will have enthusiasts drooling over it. It is less expensive than both of the rivals mentioned although if you opt for the V8 the running costs will be higher, however, this car will certainly stand out in the company car park. We drove both engines, but the V8 is where the fun is. Powered by a 5.0-litre engine, step on the accelerator, listen to the roar of the 413bhp V8 and the Mustang is off. In a straight line the Mustang is great fun and it can complete the zero to 62mph sprint in 4.8 seconds. At full tilt, the mustang is a joy, who needs a stereo when you have a V8 as a soundtrack. The chassis has been developed by Ford of Europe and it shows, the Mustang is at ease on twisty roads making it a joy to drive. On the inside the Mustang is as sophisticated as its
German rivals while the materials are of a high quality. Even though the mustang is a coupe, you could make a case for it as a family car (well, for the first few years) as it comes with Isofix attachments in the rear. Standard equipment includes a nine speaker sound system and an eight-inch colour touch screen which features sat nav, entertainment and Bluetooth, dual-zone climate control, xenon headlamps, LED tail lamps and a rear diffuser. Practicality is decent and the boot will stow two golf bags or a pram. It has a load space of 408 litres and with the rear bench folded this expands to 2,392 litres.

Jason from Cheadle Hulme wanted to update his kitchen with a more contemporary look from the existing pine coloured doors and heavily patterned granite. The split level worktops on the peninsular breakfast bar also limited the dining area. They decided to go with a full length breakfast bar & replace all the surfaces with Aleutian white quartz in 20mm for a more contemporary feel, whilst repainting all the doors light grey. The window sill, upstands and hob splash back were fitted in the same material. Obesity Mannequin Idea WINS SPARK COMPETITION
A
company that produces 25-stone mannequins which will be used to train emergency personnel and healthcare workers to safely lift obese people has won the 2015 Spark Business competition. The contest, run by Stockport Business and Innovation Centre (SBIC), attracted a diverse range of business ideas, but it was Chris Jarratt who picked up the trophy for his mannequin idea. The judges commended the innovative business idea for its growth potential and for addressing issues around a global health problem. The six finalists pitched their ideas to the judging panel of industry experts in a Dragons’ Den style session, before Bariquins was named the Spark winner. Judging panel Chairperson, Christian Mancier, Partner at Gorvins Solicitors, commented that the competition was “incredibly close to call” with all business ideas “demonstrating great potential”.

More than 90 former British Olympians reunited on Sunday 24 May to line up for the BUPA Westminster Mile....84 year old Alan Newton from Offerton was one of them, made possible when We are Stockport uncovered his story! We are Stockport is all about celebrating the great news stories and unearthing the hidden gems of Stockport. It’s about showcasing the people and places that make us proud to live, work and play in Stockport. They made it happen for Olympian, Alan Newton! Former cyclist Alan Newton, from Offerton, was Stockport’s first Olympic medallist when he won bronze in Helsinki in 1952 in the men’s team pursuit at the age of 21.

Alan received an invitation from the British Olympic Association to join other medallists in the proud walk to Buckingham Palace, Alan was preparing himself for the disappointment of declining the invitation. He simply couldn’t afford it. On its quest to celebrate the hidden gems of Stockport, We are Stockport found Alan, and during filming the video heard about his dilemma. It was because of the filming that funders came forward to save the day for Alan and Barbara, paying for their trip
Barbara Newton said: “Had We are Stockport not filmed us at Offerton Community Centre this would never have happened! So we are just very grateful for the interest they took in bringing this to light, otherwise there would have been no possibility of us going to London for this very special occasion which Alan dearly wanted to attend and take part in. Thank you so much for making this possible!”
The 84-year-old said: "1952 was an excellent year for me because not only did I win the medal but it was also the year I met my wife Barbara.” Alan has visited the Queen three times at Olympic events, but this time when

ONE LIFE AT A TIME I nsight is a small local charity which has been carefully created and incubated for two years by Pure Innovations based in Cheadle to develop and grow into an organisation that champions change, finds local solutions and targets potential for young Care Leavers in Stockport. Insight Project Manager Mary, talks about the impact Pure’s support has had, enabling Insight to establish a reputation across Stockport of providing solutions for young people who have experienced the Care system and feel isolated, lonely and a disconnection from their community. Mary says: “We believe passionately that solutions to some of the barriers facing our young people lie within the local community, through our mentors, volunteers, older care leavers and local organisations who have sponsored us, including Stockport and Bramhall Rotary organisations, Equity Housing and Forever Manchester.”
