The work undertaken by the Photographic Museum is exceptional and goes beyond the mission of conservation and preservation; it re-creates the memory of a nation. And preserves it! Mauritius desperately needed a monument to its memory and the Bréville family has perfectly accomplished this. The foreign press qualifies it as: “One of the greatest works of the 20th century!”

Situated in a magnificent 18th century building at the corner of Vieux Conseil and Churchill streets in Port Louis, visitors can meet the founders themselves. Visitors will be warmly welcomed and will discover and understand the magnificence of the photographic invention. Thousands of cameras and the most beautiful collection of photographic documents: daguerreotypes, autochromes, the biggest collection of Mauritian
