Parks and Recreation If you want to get away from it all for a day, weekend or vacation week, Lake Keomah State Park is your destination. There is a picnic area with a shelter and small, sandy beach area for unsupervised swimming. Also, there is a 65-stall campsite at the park with 41 stalls containing electrical hookups. The campsite features showers, restrooms and a trailer dump site. The campground also has a dining/rest room site on a reservation basis for large groups to meet. The state park also has a multi-use trail for year-round hiking that runs along the lake shore. In the winter, snowmobiles may operate along designated trails. Fishing and boating are popular activities at the lake during the summer. The lake has two fishing jetties just west of the beach. Also, boats with electric motors are allowed to sail in the lake, and there are two boat ramps for easy access. Lake Keomah State Park was dedicated in 1934 and many of its facilities were built by the Civilian Conservation Corps during the Great Depression.

Oskaloosa Municipal Swimming Pool The Oskaloosa Municipal Swimming Pool also is on the National Register of Historic Places. The facility also was built in 1937 by the CCC. While the buildings are historic, the pool itself is quite modern — it was renovated in 2005 and reopened its doors on May 26, 2006. The heated pool holds 450,000 gallons of water and measures 150 feet by 75 feet in addition to having a zero-depth area. The pool features three slides, two 1 meter diving boards, a water mushroom and a portable basketball hoop. The swimming pool has a family dressing area and lockers people can use on a daily basis. The pool also has a designated concession area for food and drinks. The pool has lights, so it can stay open later. People can rent the pool for birthday celebrations or pool parties. The pool is open from 1 to 7 p.m., seven days a week. It is located at 1405 S. F St.
