How sustainable are districts in Houston? This challenging and thought-provoking question is addressed by a new report from Rice University's Shell Center for Sustainability. The report, "Sustainable Development of Houston Districts: The Health of the City," was recently released and offers a widespread look at 24 social, economic and environmental indicators in 11 city council districts in the City of Houston. The report’s recommendations are based on 2010 data collected from the U.S. Census Bureau and other national and state datasets, as well as input from city government officials, academic institutions and nonprofits.
