9th Annual School of Dentistry Alumni/ Student Golf Invitational • 9 a.m.

VCU School of Dentistry designates this activity for 3 hours continuing education credits.

The Golf Club at Brickshire, 5520 Virginia Park Drive, Providence Forge, Va. 23140. Bus service to and from the club is provided. Bus leaves the Omni Hotel at the Cary Street entrance at 7:45 a.m. and leaves the club at 3:45 p.m.

Cross-campus Tour • 9:30–11:30 a.m. See how the campus has changed via a motor coach ride through the MCV and Monroe Park campuses. This fun bus tour gives you a chance to reminisce about your favorite campus spots and see the newest buildings. Space is limited, so register early. Bus leaves from the Omni Hotel on the Cary Street side.

Hospitality Suite • 11 a.m.–4 p.m. Open for all alumni. Bring your own alcoholic beverages. Omni Hotel, Suite 321. Richmond Landmarks Segway Tour • 2:45–5 p.m. Leaving from the lobby of the Omni Hotel, the tour begins with a 15-minute orientation to make sure you’re safe and comfortable gliding around town. On this guided Segway tour, you’ll see many of Richmond’s well-known landmarks, including The John Marshall House, The Wickham House, Valentine Richmond History Museum, St. Paul’s Church, James River Flood Wall, Brown’s Island and The American Civil War Center at Historic Tredegar. Segways require riders to stand while balancing on a two-wheeled machine for two hours (see photo). River District Historic Canal Cruise • 3:30–4:30 p.m. Learn about Richmond’s fascinating history along the James River. Enjoy a great view of the city’s skyline during this hour-long cruise through the city’s canal system, which was established in 1785 and completed in 1840. Tour leaves from the Turning Basin at 14th and Dock streets. Located within three blocks of the Omni.

Shockoe Bottom Segway Tour • 9:45 a.m.–12 p.m. This tour is centralized in the Shockoe Bottom area. Among others, some of the sites seen on this tour are the Edgar Allen Poe Museum, the Holocaust Museum, the site of the 17th Street train crash, the Richmond Slavery Reconciliation Statue (one of three statues on three separate continents), the Triple Crossing (the only place in the world where three train tracks cross at the same point), Lumpkins Jail (a slave jail recently excavated, known as the “Devil’s half-acre” and the site of extreme cruelty during the Civil War), the monument to Henry “Box” Brown and the 17th Street Farmers’ Market. 5th Annual MCV Motors Antique Car Show • 1–4 p.m. Take a trip back in time and enjoy alumni-owned and alumni-restored vintage cars artfully displayed in the garage of the Perkinson Building. Advance registration is not required.

Church Hill Segway Tour • 2:45–5 p.m. The highlights of this popular tour include Libby Prison, Libby Hill (beautiful views of the river and where our city was named in 1620 by William Byrd), the Masonic Lodge (oldest continually operating lodge in the country), the Adam Craig House, St. John’s Church (where Patrick Henry gave his famous “Give me liberty or give me death” speech) and Chimborazo Park (site of the largest wartime hospital in history). In this fun and informative course, you will learn of 10 benefits of digital scanning to your practice, be able to identify the differences between the currently available intra-oral digital scanning products, understand how 3D printing works and learn common terminology as well as identify 3D printing methods and the differences between the various 3D methods.

About the speaker: Dr. Perry Jones is a 1974 graduate of VCU School of Dentistry, where he is director of continuing education and faculty development as well as adjunct associate professor in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is a Master of the Academy of General Dentistry. Orthodontics has been a key practice focus for 30+ years. Dr. Jones joined the Align Technology speaker team in 2002 and to date has presented 300+ certifications. He is a featured national and international lecturer

The tour leaves at 3:30 p.m. Friday from Turning Basin at 14th and Dock streets, three short blocks from the Omni. This 40-minute cruise departs every hour from 12–7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 12–5 p.m. Sunday, should you wish to take it on your own time. Learn Something New … Interest Seminars

April 11 is opening night of Theatre VCU’s production of “Arabian Nights.” The show magically transports you to Shahrazad’s imaginary world of Ali Baba, Sindbad the Sailor, secret sorceresses, singing trees and wise-talking birds. Valet parking is available for $20 per night with unlimited ins and outs. Deadline for Omni reservations (at this reduced rate) is April 2. The hotel suggests making a reservation as soon as possible. Rates are subject to state and local taxes.
