Only matriculated students are eligible for financial aid. Non-matriculated students are those who are enrolled in a course or courses, but who have not been formally accepted into a degree or certificate program or have been terminated from such a program. Two Ways to Register! Whether you’re just interested in one or two courses or full-time study, you may register in person during normal operating hours on campus by visiting: The Registrar’s Office for returning and non-matricultated students (those interested in just taking courses for credit and not for a specific program at SCCC). See you this Fall! 3

To Our Current and Prospective Students: Last year saw tremendous growth at SCCC. For the new academic year, we anticipate even more area residents will discover what a gem we have right here in the Capital Region at Schenectady County Community College! Increasingly, Schenectady County Community College is becoming a first-choice college for those who have recently graduated from high school as well as older students returning to college to develop their skills, expand their knowledge and increase their marketability to employers and four-year transfer schools. SCCC is becoming one of the state’s premier community colleges. We are excited to announce: • Our student body grew by over 8 percent in the Fall 2010 semester compared to just a year before. Compared to 10 years ago, we have approximately 2000 more students. Summer 2011 has seen similar growth. Increasingly, students and parents are realizing the value and exceptional academic opportunity offered at SCCC. • Exciting new majors in Air Traffic Control, Alternative Energy Technology and Criminal Justice started this past academic year. A certificate in Storage Battery Technology is also being offered. SCCC is adapting to changing needs in the workforce. • A revised curriculum now allows us to offer cutting-edge Computer Networking and Cyber Security and Nutrition degrees, as well. • Our partnership with SUNY Delhi continues to grow as we continue to offer a seamless transition for our graduates to go on to earn four-year degrees. A new four-year transfer program in Criminal Justice is in the works. • A $50,000 grant from GE has played an important role in our new technology programs. • We earned an $11.2 million grant – the largest in the state and in the College’s history – as part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Affordable Care Act. This is an incredible achievement for SCCC. We now are able to provide job training in health care to Temporary Assistance to Needy Families recipients and low-income students, as well as to stimulate economic development in the Capital Region. • We earned a $382,000 grant from NYSED and a $447,500 grant from Bill and Melinda Gates to launch a Smart Scholars Early College High School program with Schenectady High School. There is a lot happening at SCCC. As we continue to advance SCCC to be a premier community college, we invite you to join us.
