ADMISSIONS POLICIES

Full Opportunity Committed to the State University of New York policy on Full Opportunity for all county residents, Schenectady County Community College guarantees open admission to all high school graduates of the previous June and all veterans returning from service in the previous year. Additionally, the College admits high school graduates from previous years and other counties who can profit from its programs and services, to the limits of the College's capacity and subject to compliance with any deadlines established by the College in its admission procedures.

Admissions Requirements Applicants for degree or certificate programs must: a)
Possess a high school diploma or its equivalent and meet any additional requirements specified in the college catalog. OR
b)
Apply for admission under the 24-Credit Hour Program1 and meet any additional requirements specified in the College Catalog. The admission decision for this program will be based on the satisfactory results of a standardized examination and an assessment of the student's "ability to benefit" by the Director of Admissions in consultation with the Department Dean responsible for administering the corresponding or certificate program. Students must be 18 years of age or older on the first day of the semester in which they begin studies as a matriculated 24-Credit Hour student.
1.2.1 Those applicants who have been accepted and have not met the admission prerequisites of the program for which they have applied will be notified as to the effect this will have on their prescribed program of study. 1.3
Early Admissions High School students may be admitted to the College under the College's established Early Admission Program that is in accordance with the State Education Department Guidelines specified in the College Catalog.
