Singing Solo Three singer-songwriters stay true to their own sound

L

awrence has long been known as a music town, a place that fosters and attracts musicians of all stripes. Among these are a few brave souls gutsy enough to write and brand their songs with their own names. Night after night, singer-songwriters appear with nothing more than a guitar to brave crowds who may or may not be on their side. For these musicians, the road to becoming a seasoned performer can be lined with challenges from booking gigs, to making sure the kids eat, to songwriter’s block. And the biggest challenge is often finding a unique voice—but when they find it, they create a sound entirely their own, shaped solely by their own life and talent.
