Complan for Caraga BUTUAN City – The National E co nomic and Development Authority (NEDA) Caraga, as the secretariat of the Regional Development Council (RDC), drafted the Communication Plan (ComPlan) for the Revised Caraga Regional Development Plan (RDP) 2013-2016 to serve as a guide in implementing interventions that will ensure that the goal of the Caraga RDP is received, understood, and acted upon by the target audiences. “The objective of the ComPlan is to communicate to the Caraganons that the RDP is a blueprint to sustain high economic growth, increase job opportunities, ensure a sound environment, and improve quality of life. The specific communication strategies are increasing awareness, knowledge, and participation, and mobilizing partners who will serve as agents of change,” bared Jazmin Berido, Economic Development Specialist of NEDA-Caraga. Berido also said that the ComPlan identifies Caraganons as the target audience along with specific groups such as civil society organizations, nongovernment organizations, people’s organizations, private sector, local government units, regional line agencies, and academe.
Naliyagan fest PROSPERIDAD Agusan del Sur -- The grand opening of the 22nd Naliyagan Festival and the 116th Independence Day Celebration was concluded on Thursday, with colors and meaning right at the heart of the Naliyagan Cultural Center (NCC) here witnessed by thousands of people from all walks of life. Right after the concelebrated mass at the St. Vincent church across the road from Naliyagan plaza, Gov. Adolph Edward Plaza, together with his mother former Governor Valentina Plaza cross the road and proceeded to the Rizal Monument to lay the wreath as an opening salvo of the 116th Philippine Independence Day. The heat from the late morning sun was becoming heavier when Gov. Plaza, his mother, former Gov. Valentina Plaza, members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan and other government officials with Col. Gregory Cayetano and his men from the 401st Infantry Brigade walk from the Rizal Monument after the wreath laying ceremony towards the main stage of the NCC where thousands of spectators of the dual celebration, the Philippine Independence Day Celebration and the grand opening of the 22nd Naliyagan Festival program, will take place.

200 applications for various RE projects, particularly for mini- or small-hydro plants, most especially in Mindanao, but only about 50 of them were approved and given service contracts. “But none of these 50 has actually been constructed
after all these years. We are trying to figure out which of these have encountered bottleneck at what level,” he said. Based on dialogues with RE project proponents, two of the challenges identified that prevented them from implementing their projects

Peace pact signing to lure more investments into Bangsamoro area By MINDANEWS
DAVAO City -- The Regional Board of Investments of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (RBOIARMM) has posted a total of P1.621 billion investments in the first five months of 2014 but investments are expected to reach or go beyond P2 billion before the month ends. The first five-month
issue figure is 158 million more than the P1.463 billion investments the ARMM posted in the four quarters of 2013. The first quarter of 2014 yielded investments of P1.451 billion and by May reached P1.621 billion with the entry of Agumil Philippines, Inc.’s P170 million Oil Palm Kernel
