Half-rice ordinance CAGAYAN de Oro City Councilor Annie Y. Daba, chair of the City Council committee on agriculture and fisheries, reminds all food establishments to include one-half cup serving of rice in their menu with the corresponding one-half price as an option for public customers. This is mandated in Ordinance No. 126885-2013, which was enacted by the 17th City Council headed by Vice Mayor Caesar Ian E. Acenas last November 2013. Authored by Councilor Daba, the ordinance supports Presidential Proclamation No. 494 of President Benigno Aquino III to promote the responsible consumption of rice. The ordinance includes restaurants, cafeterias, caterers, fastfood chains and other related food services.

Misor CareS MISAMIS Oriental -- The provincial government of Misamis Oriental has launched on July 7 its P120 million healthcare and social services program at Initao provincial hospital. Misamis Oriental Care System, commonly known as MisOr CareS is the new comprehensive health and social services program which anchors on delivering aid to human health and social development to people, specifically the indigents. Gov. Yevgeny Vincente B. Emano said that with the P120 million budget, the provincial government will enrol 20,000 beneficiaries under the “point of care” system of PhilHealth which amounts to P48 million. “PhilHealth is a good program of the government, millions of Filipinos have benefitted on it but in my administration, we will provide more and better health and social services to the people,” the governor said.

Mindanao tourism to get funds from gov’t By CARMELITO Q. FRANCISCO Correspondent

T

HE Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) has assured local government units in Mindanao of national government financial support for tourism development in the form of a share in the annual budget of the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA), an official of the island’s development agency said in a recent statement.

“We can help lobby and push for tourism projects that are feasible for funding by TIEZA,” said Luwalhati R. Antonino, chairperson of MinDA, which holds a seat in the TIEZA board. Ms. Antonino said TIEZA, which replaced the Philippine Tourism Authority in 2009, has committed to allocate at least 40% of its annual budget until 2016 for projects in funds/PAGE 9
