Briefly Profiling CAGAYAN de Oro City Councilor Leon Gan, chair of the City Council committee on urban and rural poor, yesterday requested the Estate Management Division of the City Planning and Development Office (EMD-CPDO) to conduct a socio-economic survey of residents at Zone 1, Punta Bonbon Paradise Homeowners Association in Barangays Bonbon and Kauswagan for their possible relocation. This is in relation to the request of the association for assistance regarding the proposed construction of a mega dike in the area, which will affect them. During the meeting, a representative of the association said a public hearing on the project had been conducted with the Barangay Council of Bonbon and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
Climate change adaptation BUTUAN City – The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Caraga has officially advised all provincial governors, city and municipal mayors to join the endeavor of advocating on climate change mitigation and adaptation through a regional memorandum circular. The DILG Caraga provincial and city directors, city and municipal local government operations officers (LGOOs) were likewise directed to ensure widest dissemination of the issuance. DILG Caraga regional director Lilibeth Famacion said that the order is in response to the call of President Benigno Aquino, Jr. through the Philippine Information (PIA), encouraging all government and private sectors to intensify the campaign as it aims to create a more adaptive community that would take actions to minimize the negative impacts of climate change. “By bringing together leaders, public servants and private entities, we will be able to affect a holistic approach and make practical choices and realistic actions to fight climate change,” added Famacion.

HE Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) is due to promulgate a tariff system that shall serve as benchmark for the installation of solar home systems (SHS) to interested customers by servicing electric cooperatives.
Prior to Rules promulgation, the regulatory body announced that it will be undertaking public consultations in specified venues in Manila, Cebu and Davao. The first one was concluded July 7 at the ERC
offices in Ortigas, while the Cebu leg will be this July 24. The Davao consultation is slated August; while the process culminates in Manila on August 18 – also at the ERC headquarters. tariff/PAGE 10
