OUR SERVICES styling, special occasions & weddings

A LETTER FROM THE TEAM While we are sad to say goodbye to the dog days of lake walks, chilled sangria and bikini bods, we are excited to embark on our favorite season! We believe that in addition to changing leaves and lower temperatures, fall brings new beginnings- personal and professional, new opportunities to reinvent yourself and your style, and new trends to embrace. In honor of the season of “new,” it only seems right to unveil our first ever Style-Architects Trend Report. With backgrounds in styling, event planning, and editorial, our team of lifestyle gurus keeps a pulse on trends, which puts us at the forefront of the industry. We believe that style is not limited to fashion. Through this guide, we share our bits and tips with the rest of the Twin Cities by calling out our favorite fall trends and showing you ways to incorporate them into your closet, your home or through a killer dinner party. We also feature exclusive insight from our industry experts and offer a sneak peek at where it all began for us at Style-Architects! Of course, as Minnesotans, we believe the best way to buy is locally, so we’ve stayed close to our roots by concentrating on products from our favorite local stores! We hope our trend guide will whip you into the same fall frenzy we are in and inspire you to embrace the season of new – whether by embracing a new trend or throwing your first cocktail party. Cheers,

When summer fades, we move indoors, and backyard bashes turn into house parties. We’re not talking chips and dip, but an upgraded soirée with hand crafted cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and a dress code that doesn’t include t-shirts and shorts. Here are our tips for throwing a cocktail party that will give you the reign of hostess with the most-est! THE GUEST LIST A well balanced guest list is one of the most important ingredients for throwing a fabulous fête. Invite a mix of couples and single friends, and make sure everyone on your list knows at least two other guests. Most importantly, be sure to invite a few friends who can talk to anyone and everyone. They will keep the conversation constant.

ON THE MENU Here’s the quick and easy for determining what and how much to serve. Accommodate everyone by providing a fifty-fifty ratio of protein to vegetarian dishes. A start time around the dinner hour implies heavy hors d’oeuvres (to be served in place of dinner). Plan on eight to 12 pieces per person depending on the size. If you start at 7:30 p.m. or later, serve light eats and plan on five pieces per guest.

LEAVE YOUR MARK Take your party to the next level with custom invitations, cocktail menus, coasters, and signage. The key is to create printed materials that complement the look and feel of the party. If you want to go above and beyond, provide your guests with little notebooks for jotting down tasting notes and others guests’ contact info.

OUTSOURCE If you’re not crazy about using your own glassware {we never suggest plastic!}, rent some. This is an inexpensive way to treat your fine wines and whiskeys with the respect they deserve. Did we mention you can return the dishes without washing them? If your home isn’t fully equipped for a room full of guests, renting linens, high-top tables, or lounge furniture is a quick fix. And to free up some time before, during, and after the soirée, consider hiring a bartender, catering some of the food, or bringing in a couple of servers so you aren’t stuck in the kitchen or restocking the bar all evening.

KELSEY + COLBY’S WEDDING Having spent countless summers vacationing in Detroit Lakes at Kelsey’s family cabin, Kelsey and Colby decided that their favorite summer getaway spot would serve as the perfect destination for their Fourth of July weekend wedding. They wanted a casual yet chic country-inspired affair with a rocking party, and that’s exactly what we delivered! Our team came up with a striking turquoise and red color palette that gave a nod to the Fourth of July without being too literal. Everything from the lush and beautiful florals to the small (yet dazzling) details were uniquely branded. Even the aquarium cake was branded to tell the story of Colby’s “frog” proposal. To ensure the party started from the time guests arrived, we suggested an East Coast style of service where guests dance before dinner service. The live band and DJ after-party kept the revelry going until sending off the newlyweds in true American fashion - lining the pavilion with sparklers! 15 Style-Architects

CONNIE + KELLY’S WEDDING Both taking another stab at marriage, Connie and Kelly hired us to plan their beautifully romantic yet sophisticated wedding. At our initial consult, Connie had reluctantly reserved another venue for her wedding but after listening to her overall vision and taste, we couldn’t help but suggest the Calhoun Beach Club. We immediately hit the ground running and after seeing her intricate, Monique Lhuillier gown, we landed on a romantic blush and neutral palette that mirrored the detailing of her gown. We added in eclectic vintage touches, vintage ribbon and florals suspended from the ceremony backdrop, as well as a custom aisle runner that mirrored the art deco inspired paper materials and cake. Keeping with the romantic vibe, we incorporated Kelly’s hopelessly romantic proposal story on the escort card table that triggered many conversations among awed guests.

OUT OF OFFICE at home with christina

During the beginning stage of Style-Architects, we would meet around Christina Sandok’s kitchen table. With a love for hosting {and brainstorming sessions}, Christina would have lattes and scones ready to get the creative juices flowing. Fast forward a few years and our meetings have moved from chez Sandok, to Style-Architects’ urban-chic office in the North Loop - the latte maker {and occasionally her dog} are still day-brighteners. In honor of our first trend report, we decided to go back to where it all started - Christina’s charming home in South Minneapolis.

What do you love most about your home? The quirks that come along with owning an old home built in the 1920s - the creaks that the wood floor makes, the french windows that open up overlooking our front yard and the charming nooks that make for a quiet spot to devour a book (or glass of wine).

Where would you consider your “happy place” in your home? The kitchen - There is nothing I enjoy more than creating elaborate meals or fancy desserts for people I love. And lounging on our white loveseat next to the fireplace is the perfect spot to sip my morning coffee and get caught up on email.

Any style rules you live by? In general, I don’t believe there are any hard and fast rules but I do believe that your style should translate into all aspects of your lifefrom your wardrobe to your home decor to the way you host events, your personality and unique approach will leave a lasting impression.

How do you incorporate trends into your home? I am a big fan of neutrals and high contrast so the majority of our house is black, white and grey with lots of yummy texture. This palette makes it easy to add a pop of color each season. I am looking forward to adding crimson throw pillows on my white loveseat - perfect transition right into the holidays!

Where do you find inspiration for Style-Architects? My team. On a daily basis I am surrounded by some of the most talented and creative ladies in the Twin Cities. Finding inspiration is rarely a challenge in our office. And when we need a little boost, we jam out to Bob Marley.

What have you learned about yourself and life, thus far? Balance equals happiness. There was a time that I let my career define me. I spent countless hours reading books, researching and doing anything that I thought would further my career momentum. I have learned that when I make time for myself, I feel more fulfilled.
