10 FUNERALS (no wedding)

Dries Verhoeven is a Dutch theatre maker and visual artist. He creates installations, performances and happenings in museums, on location and in the public spaces of cities. On the boundary between performance and installation art, he critically evaluates the relationships between the spectators, performers, everyday reality and art. The spectator is directly involved in the work or given the opportunity to steer his or her own experiences. In 2014 Dries Verhoeven made The Funeral (10 theatrical funerals) for the first time in Utrecht / The Netherlands. In August 2016 a new German version of The Funeral will have its premiere at the Wiesbaden Biennale. For this project we are looking for a highly motivated and experienced

Local project manager (situated in Wiesbaden, or surroundings) - starting from April - first 4 months part time towards the festival this will turn into a fulltime position In The Funeral, current politics of fear and crisis are encapsulated in ten baroque funeral masses, a happening reflecting on the doom rhetoric of politicians and cultural pessimists. The spectators ponder the ‘death’ of vanished ideas, values or parts of our society and get the opportunity to pay their last respects. Together, they look back on the role ‘the deceased’ concepts or ideas played in their life, after which they carry them to the grave.
