Pensado como una gran instalación urbana en el espacio público, en Offset: el último proyecto del fotógrafo Igor Calvo, las imágenes ficticias de los innumerables espacios publicitarios que pueblan las calles se sustituyen por imágenes de situaciones reales.

Offset investiga en el umbral de tolerancia que poseemos con respecto a la realidad y nuestra necesidad de rodearnos de narraciones ficticias. Y, para ello, hace presente en el espacio público la parte más abrumadora de la realidad: aquella que se refiere a desahucios, hambre, necesidad y violencia. En su nuevo proyecto, Igor Calvo refotografía imágenes extraídas de la red (Internet entendido como fuente principal de información) que nos hablan de las consecuencias de nuestro sistema político-económico. Estas fotografías son ubicadas en las amplias calles que utilizamos a diario como zonas de tránsito. Lugares cotidianos en los que se repite sin cesar la misma secuencia de movimientos disciplinados. Una imagen en la que no hay nada reseñable, si exceptuamos los cientos de impactos publicitarios con sus recreaciones fantásticas de lo que debe ser la felicidad. Este paisaje urbano queda trastocado con la sustitución de esas narrativas imaginarias por fotografías que muestran a personas en situaciones reales. El título del proyecto Offset se toma en una doble acepción: - como método de impresión sobre distintos soportes, en alusión directa al medio que emplea el proyecto - en su significado de estrategia de compensación de un impacto, denotando nuestra tendencia a compensar la realidad con el discurso ficticio para defender nuestros posicionamientos habituales

As if it were a large scale urban installation in the public space, in Offset: the last project of the photographer Igor Calvo, the fictional images characteristics of the countless advertising spaces that fill up the streets are replaced by images of the starker reality.

Offset looks into our tolerance threshold with respect to reality and our need to surround ourselves with so many fictional narratives. And to do so, the most overwhelming part of reality makes itself present in the public space: the reality of evictions, hunger, need and violence. In his new project, Igor Calvo rephotographs images extracted from the Net (Internet treated as the main source of information), images that tell of the consequences of our political and economical system. These photographs are placed in those streets we use everyday as transit areas. Everyday places in which the same sequence of disciplined movements are repeating endlessly. An image in which there is absolutely nothing remarkable, except for the hundreds of advertising messages and their fantastic depictions of unreal happiness. This urban landscape is disrupted by replacing these imaginary narratives with photographs showing real people in real situations.

The title Offset has a double meaning: - as a printing technique used in different media, in direct reference to the means used by the project - as compensation strategy of an impact, denoting our tendency to make up for the reality with fictional discourses as a way of protecting our ideological stances
