A GATHERING IN THE GARDEN

Thursday, April 4

5-7 p.m., Lanier House Lawn

PARISH Life

Our first ECW-wide event this year will be a casual reception on the Lanier House Lawn where we will learn firsthand from our incredibly talented Flower Guild how to make a show-stopping arrangement from store-bought flowers. The Cathedral Bookstore is getting in on the fun by featuring an array of garden books and home items that will be perfect for Mother’s Day or graduation gifts. Wine, light bites, and flowers – join us and bring a friend!

Bring a beverage or a snack to share and come meet new friends in the garden. There is no charge for this event, but we ask you please to register so we can plan accordingly. Register at cathedralATL.org/ecwspring. For more information please contact Canon Lauren Holder, lholder@cathedralATL.org.

PANEL DISCUSSION ON HIV/AIDS

Sunday, April 7

5 p.m., Gould Room

All God’s Children, the Cathedral of St. Philip’s community of LGBTQ+ members, families, and friends, will host a panel discussion with parishioner Jeff Bonnell, who is a person living with HIV. Jeff will discuss his journey to personal acceptance, how he found compassion at church, and ways to help others within our parish.

Dr. Melody Palmore, a healthcare professional specializing in HIV/AIDS care, will also participate to discuss the challenges that remain within our community.

The event will be held April 7 at 5 p.m. in the Gould Room. Wine and cheese will be provided. All are welcome. Please register at cathedralATL.org/AGC. For more information about All God’s Children, please contact Canon Lauren Holder, lholder@cathedralATL.org.

SIGN UP TO JOIN A FOYERS GROUP

Foyers offers small group dinner opportunities for adults throughout the year. Members of each group take turns hosting—some providing the space, others providing the food, all providing meaningful fellowship. This is a great way to get to know a handful of people without feeling overwhelmed. Groups are intentionally intergenerational and eclectic. The Super Foyers dinner – where all groups convene to kick off the year – will be Sunday, April 21 at 6 p.m. in Child Hall. To sign up for a Foyers group, please register at cathedralATL.org/foyers by Tuesday, April 9. For questions or more information, please contact Liz Aull, laull@cathedralATL.org

CHILL ON THE HILL

Please note this event is for adults only. Tickets are $25 per person or $200 to reserve a table for 8. Register at cathedralATL.org/chillonthehill or scan the QR code above. EASTER Flowers

EASTER FLOWERING OF THE CROSS

All are welcome to participate in this beloved tradition as the cross is brought to life with color and beauty as a living symbol of resurrection. Stop by and place a flower in the cross that will be set up in the Atrium on Easter Sunday, March 31. Bringing something from your own garden is a practice that is certainly welcome, and one that many find especially meaningful.

EASTER ALTAR FLOWERS

We will once again have beautiful floral arrangements and decorations in our sacred spaces this Easter, with your help! Your donation can be made in memory of or thanksgiving for a loved one. While any gift is appreciated, a minimum of $125 per printed line is suggested. Please note that our print deadline has passed, and donations made at this time will appear online but not be printed in the leaflets.

CATHEDRAL News

WELCOME TABBI MORRIS!

We are thrilled to announce that Tabbi Morris has been chosen as the next manager of the Cathedral Bookstore, effective March 13.

Although originally from Atlanta, Tabbi only returned to the city last summer after working in Florida and California. Her background includes over 20 years of executive management in luxury brands, non-profit organizations and high end firms. She is very eager to embrace the unique ministry of our bookstore and happy to reactivate her membership at the Cathedral.

Tabbi relieves Jen Waters, who has been the interim manager on a volunteer basis since last June. She has steered the bookstore to a financially stable position, increased volunteers and improved many existing systems. Tabbi will reap many of these rewards and inherit a beautiful store with a strong and devoted team of fabulous volunteers. Please thank Jen when you see her and welcome Tabbi to the Cathedral!

GRIEF SUPPORT GROUP

Landscapes of Grief

Sundays, April 21-May 19 3:30 p.m.–5 p.m., Lanier House

This grief-support group, offered in partnership with Hospice Atlanta, is open to anyone in the community who is grieving the death of a loved one and is willing to commit to attending all six sessions. We meet from 3:30 – 5 p.m. on Sunday with new sessions beginning periodically. To maintain a comfortable group size, space is limited, and registration is required. Contact Canon Cathy Zappa, czappa@cathedralATL.org, for more information.

CHILDREN’S Ministry

This year we will continue following the Israelites after they traveled through the wilderness making their way to the Promised Land. In the Promised Land, unexpected journeys, epic battles, secret spies, and other surprises are in store as we follow God’s pursuit of his people.

Week of Wonder is a traditional week of Vacation Bible School for children ages 4 – 5th grade. We will enjoy the simple and relaxed joys that summer brings, using nature, art, music, play, wonder, and of course, popsicles.

The Nurturing Center will also be open for younger siblings! Register at cathedralATL.org/weekofwonder.

POSTMASTER: Dated Material. Please deliver by March 23, 2024

One of the most profound Sunday 4 o’clock choral services of the year, A Meditation on the Passion of Christ, with Carols, employs lessons and carols, spirituals, anthems, motets, and congregational hymns to illuminate the Passion of Christ, which is retold using biblical narratives from Mark, Matthew, and John, sung to some of the most ancient plainchant known to the Church. It is a deeply meaningful way to step back from the hectic pace of life and enter into Holy Week. The service begins at 4:00 p.m. this Sunday, March 24, with prelude music beginning at 3:40. See page 2 for detailed music listing.
