WHY STONHARD? Our discovery phase begins by thoroughly analyzing and understanding the request for your needs and our engineering team then evaluates and recommends a solution based on temperature, chemical exposure, conditions, and the lifespan of the facility. High-abrasion flooring systems are mostly recommended in mining facilities due to harsh conditions. Additional texture is often added for slip resistance and different layers could be applied to indicate when maintenance is required. Stonhard’s grout solutions can stabilize the pumps and pump bases, limit vibration, and limit cracking compared to other rigid solutions which can cause chemical penetration behind the surface and affect the actual asset, concrete tank bases, pump bases, etc. From the start of your project to its completion, from specifications and design to project management and final walk-through, you work with us directly.

“C” THE DIFFERENCE THE 4 ESSENTIAL STONHARD DISCOVERY ELEMENTS OF MINING FACILITY PRODUCTION CHEMICALS Most mining facilities face the tough challenge of protecting their plant from chemical leaks, spills, and attacks. In the case of such an event, the facility’s floors, walls, and linings can undergo significant damage. To tackle this, Stonhard offers chemical-resistant lining, flooring, and wall systems which contain properties that protect these areas from acids, alkalis, solvents, and other corrosive elements.

CONCENTRATIONS In order to provide the most effective flooring solutions for your facility, Stonhard’s Project Management Team carefully assesses the concentrations of chemicals present in the environment. This analysis helps determine the appropriate level of chemical resistance required for the lining, flooring, and wall systems. By considering the specific concentrations of chemicals, Stonhard ensures that the selected materials will provide optimal protection, preventing poor adhesion and weak bonds between linings and surfaces.

CONDITIONS The conditions in a mining facility depend on the commodity that is being mined. After analyzing aspects of the facility such as commonly found chemicals, traffic, abrasion and the average temperature in the facility, Stonhard recommends a system tailor-made to serve your needs.

CELSIUS Extreme temperatures and rapid changes in temperatures are very common phenomena in mining facilities due to their geographic location as well as the nature of work at these facilities such as chemical spillages. It is imperative that the floor, wall, and especially lining systems, must be able to withstand thaw cycles and thermal shock. Stonhard’s thermal shock and cycling-resistant systems provide protection critical to the longevity of your facility.

COPPER MINING Copper mining is unique as copper can be found as a native metal and doesn’t typically need to be extracted from the ore. Despite this, it requires high strength and durable flooring to protect processing tanks and pumps bases. Most Requested Feature: Durability Copper mining operations often involve the use of harsh chemicals and reagents to extract copper from ore, and these chemicals can be extremely corrosive and damaging to the flooring in the facility. Without proper chemical resistance, the flooring and lining in a copper mining facility can quickly become damaged, leading to costly repairs and downtime. S T O N H A R D . C A

IRON ORE MINING Seamless floors and lining systems are essential for protecting valuable assets in an iron ore mining facility. The mining process involves the use of heavy machinery and equipment, as well as harsh environmental conditions, which can all contribute to the wear and tear of these assets. Without proper protection, tanks, pumps, and other equipment can quickly become damaged, leading to costly repairs and downtime. Most Requested Feature: Abrasion Resistance Abrasion resistance is a vital feature for an iron ore mining facility as it ensures the longevity and efficiency of the flooring and equipment used in the mining process. It also improves safety for the workers by reducing the risk of slips and falls caused by potholes and cracks in the facility.

PRECIOUS MINERALS & METALS MINING Stonhard linings help protect equipment and assets in a precious minerals mining facility to provide a seamless workflow. They provide a durable barrier which can be applied to the interior and exterior of concrete tanks and other equipment, creating a layer that protects against wear and tear. Most Requested Feature: High-Impact Resistance The mining process for precious minerals involves heavy machinery and equipment, which can cause wear and tear on traditional flooring materials. High-impact-resistant floors and linings can withstand the demanding conditions of a mining facility.

POTASH MINING Potash miners must protect their facility from abrasion. Whether it’s heavy machinery or loaded trucks, wear and tear is experienced by potash miners on a regular basis. The floor must be able to withstand these loads and prevent scuffs and cracks. Most Requested Feature: High Strength High-strength flooring and lining materials can withstand heavy loads and impacts without the pipes, pumps, and tanks cracking or breaking, which helps to ensure the safety and efficiency of the potash mining workflow.
