Summerfield Fire Fighter Killed In Hit And Run Accident

Another area that seemed to cause trouble during the snowstorm was Battleground Avenue, which had plenty of cars stranded due to ice forming the morning after the snowfall when some of the snow melted and then refroze during the night. Some flights were also cancelled out of the Piedmont Triad Airport. Although North Carolina citizens experienced extremely low temperatures, lots of snow and ice, and driving problems, at least drivers did not get stuck out on the highway like some drivers further south. In the Atlanta area, it was reported that some drivers had to sleep in their cars overnight or longer after getting stuck in massive traffic jams during snowstorms on the highways. Students will likely be going to school through the week of Monday, June 16th as a result of the snow. Before the most recent storms, students had makeup days going through Friday, June 13th already, but official new makeup days plans haven’t yet been made. ::

OAK RIDGE - On February 20th, 2014 the historic Oak Ridge Military Academy held a ribbon cutting ceremony at the Holt Hall. The Holt building was first built in 1923 following the fire that burned the original building down in 1914. Holt Hall has served as a dormitory at Oak Ridge Military Academy for the last 91 years. Mr. Irvin Angel, class of 1943 at the academy, broke ground on the construction of a new addition to Holt Hall at the special ribbon cutting ceremony with many people in attendance including Jim Savage,

chairman of the board of directors. The academy says that the additions will provide much needed baths and showers. Mr. Angel has paid for the Holt renovations and has been an important supporter of the school as it continues to upgrade its facilities. “The faculty and staff want to thank Mr. Irvin Angel for his dedication and commitment to continuing to make ORMA better,” said the academy in a statement. The school also said they wanted to give thanks to others who have helped with ORMA projects. ::
