St. Mary’s University: A Gateway for International Students St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas, is a gateway for students to professional lives as ethical leaders. The Marianists (Society of Mary) who founded the University in 1852 continue to infuse the student experience with a welcoming Catholic spirit and a focus on educating students who are committed to serving the greater good. The first and oldest Catholic university in Texas and the southwestern United States, we offer more than 75 programs, including doctoral and law programs. With a diverse student population of about 3,600 of all faiths and backgrounds, the student-to-faculty ratio of 12-to-1 permits small classes and promotes active learning.
