a Catholic Voluntary Academy

We’re determined to provide the best opportunities for all our students. But we need your help. This may surprise you. Despite having among the best academic results over many years in the whole Leeds area, St Mary’s Menston has one of the lowest rates of funding per student by the education authorities. The dedication and commitment of our staff, parents and students themselves, ensures that we maintain our standards but the governmentimposed budgetary constraints and rising pupil numbers mean the voluntary extras we have provided in the past are now under threat. Of the 1,250 students at the school, there are a significant number of families who do not

receive government education support but are “just about managing”. We would like to support these families so that their children can enjoy the school trips, sporting activities and other opportunities which the parents of other students normally help fund. The aim of our Pupil Development Fund is to support students in providing: • Uniform • Transport to school events • Educational trips • Equipment for sport and music etc

WOULD YOU DONATE? We’re asking local organisations, companies and individuals if they would support our efforts by making a donation to our Pupil Development Fund. Here’s a brief list of some events and items that we are looking to pay for and their most recent cost: Year 8 residential to the lake district
