CELEBRATING THE CLASS OF 2020

This year represents a major milestone in our school’s history: St. Mark’s Episcopal Day School’s 50th Anniversary! On September 1, 1970, the first generation of students flooded the halls of St. Mark’s. Before this first day of school, many dedicated and extremely hard working individuals came together to organize and plan the foundation for building an Episcopal elementary school in Ortega. An integral part of this group of individuals is the 1970-1971 Board of Trustees. We are especially grateful for the gift of these loyal men and women who had the foresight, and made the necessary sacrifices for St. Mark’s Episcopal Day School to open their doors a half century ago.

The entire St. Mark’s Episcopal Day School community is extremely grateful for the commitment and dedication of this group of men and women.

Since that time, St. Mark’s, like any institution, has undergone significant changes, but they have all been for the improvement and betterment of the School and its students. These enhancements would not have been possible without the loyalty and support of individuals just like you. 4114 OXFORD AVENUE | JACKSONVILLE, FL 32210 S TM A R K S DAYS C H O O L .O R G

OUR MISSION: St. Mark’s Episcopal Day School is a nurturing Christian environment that prepares children to learn and lead in our global community.

HOW MUCH AM I EXPECTED TO GIVE? The Lion’s Pride Fund is our school’s annual giving program. The money raised through this fund is a vital part of the annual operating budget, covering the difference between tuition charged and the actual current cost to educate a St. Mark’s student. Ideally, each family would give the $1,500 “gap” amount. However, we realize family circumstances are unique, so we ask you to make a gift that is meaningful to you. Every gift matters and helps to inspire other donors. These gifts support virtually every area of school life to help provide: • An array of outstanding innovative educational, athletic, and cultural experiences

For the past 50 years, St. Mark’s Episcopal Day School has been an educational destination known for its academic excellence. St. Mark’s students were asked to share what St. Mark’s means to them and what they love about St. Mark’s:

“I have been here my whole life, and it has been amazing. All the classrooms are like rooms in a house, and the field where I play sports is my backyard. Everything about St. Mark’s is special and that is what I love about it.” SAM OGLETREE ’20

“Our school is amazing! The teachers here are so fun, and they make everything seem so easy. I love how kind everyone is and the teachers are so nice.” WILLIAM CASSADY ’21

“Teaching children has always been my passion, and it has been my privilege and honor to teach at St. Mark’s for many years. I feel truly blessed to work in a nurturing Christian environment where the faculty, staff, and parents partner together like a family creating a community where children feel safe, loved, and supported, but also where they are encouraged to make good choices and uphold high moral standards. I find much satisfaction in experiencing a child’s excitement when they learn something new in the academic world, but even more gratifying is watching a child grow and develop into a confident person who knows how to be kind, how to solve a problem among their friends, and how to go about making a good choice. I am so thankful to have a job that not only brings me joy every day, but allows me the opportunity to be a part of a special place that helps to develop children into responsible citizens and future leaders.”
