In 1891 St. Hugh's Hall was placed under the management of a Council: it was constituted under a Deed of Trust in 1894, and incorporated in 1911 under the Companies' (Consolidation) Act (1908) under the title of St. Hugh's College. ourtcir for Oe `dear 1912.

Tax second General Meeting of the College took place on Friday, April 26th, 1912, when Miss Wordsworth, Miss Wardale, and Miss Rogers were re-elected members of the Council by the members of the College. Mrs. Fisher and Mr. Nagel were re-elected, and Mr. Hamilton Fyfe elected, by the Council. The members of the Council deeply regret the resignation of Mrs. Thompson, Honorary Secretary of the College since 1905, who had bound herself by strong ties of personal friendship to the staff and the students. Their sense of gratitude for her unfailing help is beyond adequate expression in words, and they know that it is shared by all members of the College and by many others besides. Miss Greenwood, who is already a member of the Council, was elected as Honorary Secretary pro tern. The most important event of the year has been the offer to the College of an opportunity of obtaining a site (The Mount, Banbury Road) within the University radius, upon which permanent College buildings can be erected. The negotiations for the purchase of this site have now been completed, and an appeal will be issued at once for the funds necessary for the payment of the purchase money and for the erection of the permanent College. It is hoped that every one interested in St. Hugh's will endeavour to bring this scheme for the concentration and enlargement of the College to the notice of friends of the University Education of Women. In the Final Honour Schools Miss Homersham was placed in the First Class in English Language and Literature. Second Classes were obtained by Miss Porcher in English, Miss Hart in French, and Miss Sedding in Botany.

10 Miss M. E. Gordon (2nd class Hon. Mods., 1st class Lit. Hum.), has been awarded the Oxford Gilchrist Studentship, and has entered upon a year's training at the Cambridge Training College. Miss Hart has been awarded a bursary at the Maria Grey Training College, Brondesbury. The French prize given by the Association for the Education of Women in Oxford, has been awarded to Miss Shaw. The Library this year received several handsome donations, especially from Mr. Brierly and Mr. Deneke, and many gifts of books from various donors. The new scholars this year are Miss M. L. Potter (English), Clapham High School, who won the " Clara Evelyn Mordan " Scholarship, and Miss E. M. T. Oliver (French), Redland High School, " West " Scholar.
