FDRA (Footwear Distributors and Retailers of America) is a non-profit organization promoting the free flow of footwear into the U.S. and throughout the world. FDRA represents footwear retailers, distributors, manufacturers, suppliers and international trade associations.

FDRA’s MISSION Establish FDRA as the premier footwear trade association by advocating on behalf of members in the area of free trade, and supporting the footwear community through dissemination of information on all issues that advance commercial interests common to the membership and the footwear industry at large.

PUBLICATIONS FDRA Publications include the most timely, topical information on issues affecting the footwear industry. Each month, FDRA members receive three e-publications: The Executive Bulletin & Summary keeps you updated on what’s happening at the CPSC, political and legislative reform, international affairs, and trade data. With special contributions from industry experts and FDRA member news.

The Customs Report monitors U.S. Customs decisions affecting duties on imported footwear.

The Intellectual Property (IP) Digest and Trademark Filings reports on litigation and legislation, as well as patents and trademarks pertaining to the footwear industry. + FDRA’s Footwear Feed: Our e-blast alerts that provide you with up-to-theminute breaking news as it happens

For Our Retailer Members: FDRA also publishes a weekly Sales Survey. This confidential report provides an invaluable comparison of retailers’ sales performances on a store-for-store basis, against national and regional results. The Survey is available only to participating members.

E UCATIO Each year, FDRA presents multiple conferences throughout the U.S. and China. Topics range from product safety to customs to labor practices. All are tailored specifically to footwear professionals.

FDRA members receive up to 22% off conference registrations.

Most FDRA conferences are eligible for CSS continuing education credits.

The Footwear Traffic Distribution Customs (FTDC) conference brings together top logistics executives from footwear retailers together with transportation and distribution executives from around the world.

The Customs portion of the conference addresses everything from the basics to the specifics with an interactive setting and sample review led by the CBP.

The Overseas Labor Practice Workshop, held in China, addresses the most pressing issues affecting the shoe industry and its relationship with China.

Issues including age, wages, labor contracts and safety testing are covered.

The Product Safety and Environment Workshop provides the most current information you need to ensure safe and sustainable footwear production and materials.

Product safety legislation, testing, and restricted substances make up some of the topics covered.

FDRA conferences, committee meetings, and working groups provide tremendous opportunities for networking with colleagues and leading footwear executives. Leadership roles are available to members and highly encouraged.

FDRA is plugged in to all of today’s most useful and relevant social networking sites. Through our established groups, there are opportunities to join topical discussions, connect with other footwear executives, and stay informed with up-to-the-minute updates on what’s happening in the industry.

The FDRA Young Executives Club (YEC) is devoted solely to providing opportunities to up and coming executives within our member companies. YEC members are given unique opportunities to contribute, grow and network with some of the most powerful people in the footwear industry.

FDRA’s Top Priorities ‡ Zero Duty Strategy With nearly $1.9 billion paid in duties each year, this issue remains at the core of our mission. ‡ Social Compliance Energizing a compliance enhancement initiative to secure more uniform, streamlined and effective compliance by factories with social responsibility and environmental standards remains a key goal. ‡ Affordable Footwear Initiative (AFI) In a collaborative effort, FDRA is working to save American footwear consumers billions of dollars by enacting the Affordable Footwear Act.

MEMBER TYPES • Retailers: Companies operating 40 or more shoe stores or departments, or have annual retail shoe sales in excess of $25 million • Distributors: Companies that import finished footwear into the U.S., act as an agent, or manufacture shoes in the U.S. • US Footwear Affiliate Members: U.S. companies that supply footwear materials, components, services (including exhibit operators), and equipment to the footwear sector • International Footwear Affiliate Members (IFAM): International shoe manufacturers, suppliers, and trade associations, not owned or operated by a foreign government (IFAM members are not eligible to vote or hold FDRA office.)

• Non-Footwear Affiliate Members: Suppliers to the industry, including motor, air and ocean carriers, freight forwarders and consolidators, customs brokers, law firms, consultants and financial analysts (Non-Footwear Affiliate members are not eligible to vote or hold FDRA office.)
