The Big 5 Saudi provides the ideal opportunity to seize these opportunities and capitalize on the buoyant Saudi construction market. After a hugely successful launch in 2011, The Big 5 Saudi 2012 doubled in size attracting 9,922 visitors from 52 countries, an increase of 9.2% on the 2011 event. To cater for demand, an additional temporary structure was built to accommodate over 200 exhibitors and to host the new concrete zone, dedicated to the latest concrete products and technologies.

The show also featured the Concrete Repair and LEED 201 workshops presented by world class experts providing valuable insights about the latest techniques and standards in the concrete repair and sustainable building concepts.

SPECIAL EVENTS Concrete Zone New to the show this year was a designated zone for concrete products and technologies. The Concrete Zone featured over 60 international and GCC exhibitors displaying a broad range of products from construction chemicals to formwork to block making machinery, and much more. In addition, the Concrete Zone also included a dedicated USA Pavilion, with eight of the leading concrete companies from the US displaying their products to the Saudi market, many for the first time.

LEED 201 Workshop

Concrete Repair Workshop

35 delegates took part in the LEED 201 Workshop, providing them with essential knowledge of sustainable building concepts that are fundamental to LEED rating systems.

A sell-out event with 70 participants, the Concrete Repair Workshop saw world class experts speak on concrete repair – all in line with the most recent European Standards and Concrete Society Technical Reports.

LEED 301 Workshop After the success of the LEED 201 Workshop, the follow up LEED 301 Workshop has been organised 2 month after the exhibition, enabling those construction specialists who seek continued professional development to gain an in-depth knowledge of the latest LEED techniques.

MARKETING & PROMOTION The Big 5 Saudi marketing campaign, valued at USD 700,000, leveraged one of the Middle East’s largest construction database and utilized a wide range of mediums to reach an audience of 2,653,000 people.

Email A prime medium in reaching and registering The Big 5 Saudi audience, 12 emails were sent to a database comprising of 70,000 global industry contacts. The database is regularly updated, verified and cleaned by a dedicated team of inhouse data-builders. Direct Mail The Big 5 mailed the visitor brochure to 13,000 professionals in the GCC region. Telemarketing A team of nine trained telemarketers were involved in the promotion of the event, targeting construction professionals in Saudi Arabia and registering them to attend the event. Trade Press Advertising The Big 5 Saudi partnered with 30 trade publications that published 53 adverts and four daily newspapers that published 11 high visibility adverts. Online Advertising Web banners were posted on 38 trade websites and 11 daily news websites, delivering a total of 1,200,000 impressions. Fax A popular means of communication in the GCC, a targeted fax to professionals whose email address we did not have was sent out to 6,000 individuals. SMS A total of four SMS’s were sent out to 19,000 recipients prior to and during the show. Website The website was an essential tool in providing information about the exhibitors and showcasing product images. The website was available in English and Arabic and registered 75,000 visits with an average browsing time of over three minutes.

Partnerships A key component of the marketing & promotions plan is the relationships The Big 5 Saudi has developed with trade associations and government bodies. The event was officially endorsed and promoted by two trade associations, three government bodies and held under the Patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Mansour Bin Mutaib Bin Abdulaziz. PR The total coverage achieved during the campaign produced 63 editorial pieces published in English and Arabic, including show previews, Q&As as well as television news broadcasts. 44 members of the press attended the show, representing dailies, trade publications, TV stations, radios, online publications and newswires. Radio The Big 5 Saudi invested in 16 commercial spots on the KSA’s most popular business station, MBC FM. TV Al Arabiya came on board as the official broadcasting partner for The Big 5 Saudi. Al Arabiya and CNBC attended the event, conducting interviews with exhibitors and industry experts. Outdoor A means to build brand and event awareness, the unipol outside the exhibition venue was branded three weeks prior to the show. 13 branded boards were positioned on the fence surrounding the exhibition grounds facing the busy Al Madina Road and Sultan Bin Salman Road. Social Media The Big 5 Saudi regularly engages with its 11,600 fans providing advance notice on special events, product showcases, exhibitor news and industry reports.
