The SCC psychology professor is applying the findings of her sabbatical by employing a student-centered approach. Classes that started with doubters ended with empowered students singing the praises of this burgeoning teaching model focusing on students’ abilities and interests. Out of the classroom, Beth served student veterans as a club advisor, event organizer and advocate.

As a colleague, she helped to reshape the college’s advisory team and to build longrange recruitment strategies that will serve SCC for years to come. In the community, she organized recordbreaking food drives, assisted in the wake of natural disasters and trained first-responders to cope with special challenges.
