Distance Learning Courses Earn College Credit at Home Who should take a distance learning class? Distance learning classes are not easier than traditional classes. They have the same expectations and are equivalent to classes taught on campus. Courses that do not require weekly classroom attendance require a significant amount of self-discipline. Successful students are generally: highly motivated, independent, active learners, have good reading and organizational skills, can adapt to new learning environments, have discipline to study without external reminders, and have computer literacy skills (may need to use e-mail, Moodle, etc.). Visit www.stchas. edu/distance and click “Is Online Right for Me”? to determine your readiness.

What Is “Distance Learning?” Distance learning classes include online courses, telecourses, and teleweb courses that do not require regular classroom attendance but may require an oncampus orientation, midterm, or final exam. Students use textbooks, complete written assignments, and receive faculty assistance. Distance learning classes are comparable to on-campus classes in credits earned.

Some campus meetings may be scheduled for online courses. Students must check the distance learning website at www.stchas.edu/distance for critical information at least one week prior to the start of the semester. Please call the Distance Learning Office at 636-922-8470 if you have any questions.
