Thinking Outside The Xbox

john mcentire When it comes down to numbers, the place where you live is really the place where you spend the majority of your time. Some people say they live at work, but if your desk drawer feels more familiar than a kitchen cabinet, you may be on to something. Others claim to live at their residential address, yet can be regularly found in front of a bar or passed out on your couch. It makes you wonder. Statistically, it’s safe to say you live in your bedroom. Sure, you may not be a recluse, but if you get enough sleep and actually put thought into your appearance, we’re approaching a good nine-to-10 hours holed up in that hobbit den. Between the dirty clothes pile, accumulating cups, and holdover college mementos, it could very well be one of the most neglected rooms. Let’s give it a classy-yet-cozy facelift.

2 1. Natural Bed by Tucker Robbins—Unlike what you may have previously been told, a headboard is the centerpiece of your bedroom, not your childhood trophy corner. A generous slice of nature towering over your resting place does more to impress a guest than a swim-meet ribbon.

2. Insulator Sconce Light from Hipcycle—I have been trying to work these amazing sconces into past columns. Finally, they fit.

3. Third Rail Tables by Rail Yard Studios—A night table you don’t have to fear harboring sleeping masks and romance novels. Made from dead train roads, manly-man just got manlier. Should you decide to test this and kick your toes into it, be warned: it will win. 4. Reclaimed Wood Armoire with Hand-Forged Hardware by Rustic—A great placeholder for your clothes.
