The cooler months are fast approaching, but Unison will keep you warm by providing a wide variety of performances and events. Welcome to Unison's fall catalog, featuring performances by artists such as John Cohen and the Down Hill Strugglers, Eric Andersen and the legendary Brenda Bufalino. Among the new offerings are the Health and Healing lectures, Sunday String concerts, and a lecture series on understanding painting. Heather Ohlson Executive Director Unison Arts Center

Children's programming has expanded to include after-school classes in clay, crafts, drawing, and dance. The Family Spanish Intensive is an after-school class for kids and their parents.

Susan Slotnick specializes in the connection between movement and learning. She concentrates on creating better attention skills, group cooperation, selfdiscipline, and having fun.

Instructor Callie Hershey uses playful activities, rhythm instruments, singing, and movement with children and their caregivers. No musical experience necessary.

Projects may include decoupage, painting, paper-making, tie-dying, mosaics, glass etching, wind chimes, paper mache, and batik.

Classes ease participants into projects with loose gesture drawings, and as they advance, into adding muscle definition and shading.

Barbara Bash has been walking the calligraphic path for many years. A tantalizing exhibit of artisans selected from this year's Unison Holiday Craft Fair. This exhibit will include ceramics, textiles, and unique wall pieces by local craftspeople. This workshop will explore the ancient Chinese principles of heaven, earth, and human in the making of a brush stroke, using big brushes, buckets of ink and spontaneous marks. An interest in visual language and movement is the only prerequisite.

Whether you are an advanced photographer, or just starting out, this workshop is for you. Instructor Dan McCormack will lead discussions and demonstrations on how to shoot with a figure model, with “hot lights” and with props.

We accept cash, checks, Visa, MasterCard and Discover. Reservations require pre-payment, either in person, over the phone or online. A $2 per ticket handling fee is applied to all credit card purchases; the handling fee will be waived for CURRENT Unison members on phone credit card sales, cash sales or door sales. Ticket sales are FINAL; there can be no exchanges, refunds or cancellations, except for CURRENT Unison members, who may exchange tickets for another performance, subject to availability. Buy tickets in advance and avoid paying higher door prices on the date of the performance. STUDENT PRICING: With a valid student I.D., students can purchase tickets to most Unison events at a 50% discount. All Family Fun programs offer special rates for children 12 years and under. WORKSHOP REGISTRATION: Please pre-pay at the office, online, or over the phone. Preregistration is important — we will cancel a program if there are not enough preregistrations. Pre-payment is not required for ongoing workshops/classes. RENTALS: The Unison facilities are available for private functions and events. Turn left at light and go 1 1/4 miles through center of town over steel bridge. Turn right onto Springtown Road. Proceed 1/2 mile. Bear left at fork onto Mountain Rest Road. Go 1/2 mile. Unison is on your left.
