St. Xavier High School, founded in 1831, is a Catholic college preparatory school for young men conducted by the Society of Jesus (Jesuits). Admission is selective based upon a qualifying examination and previous academic performance. Approximately 60 percent of those who take the entrance examination are offered admission. 99 percent of the graduates each year enter a four-year college or university program. *** Students enrolled at Saint Xavier High School reside in all areas of greater Cincinnati, including northern Kentucky and southeastern Indiana. The student body is approximately 80 percent Roman Catholic. The remaining 20 percent of students includes other Christian denominations and the Jewish, Hindu, Buddhist and Islamic faiths. There is an 11 percent minority population in the school. 32 percent of the students receive tuition assistance through St. Xavier’s financial aid program. *** All 1575 young men at St. Xavier High School are enrolled in an authentic college preparatory program. PLEASE NOTE:

  Advanced Placement courses are ordinarily available only to juniors and seniors. Admission to these courses is competitive and is based upon past performance/testing and - in all cases – approval by the instructor. Space is restricted for these courses.  Due to St. Xavier schedule requirements, most juniors can accommodate only AP Biology and/or AP U.S. History in their schedule. Due to the rigor and pace of the curriculum, more academically successful seniors are advised to take only as many AP courses for which they are approved and can be successful.  St. Xavier students must take at least six courses (seven-period day) each semester, unless concurrently enrolled in two or more AP subjects. Due to course sequencing, many underclassmen must take a seventh course each semester.
