Message from our Executive Directors Our JCCs are in an unprecedented phase of growth, paving the way to both an exciting new chapter in our history and a bright future. In their own unique ways, each JCC has become a hub of community engagement and the centre for Jewish life. Our “J”s have become destinations for people to live up to their aspirations and dreams...to learn, grow, to stay in shape, and put themselves and their families on paths to meaningful lives. We are very pleased to announce that our membership continues to climb at a healthy rate, our Daycares and Preschools are at or nearing capacity and the Jack and Pat Kay Centre Camp has cemented itself as the premier Jewish day camping option throughout the city. We are also excited to unveil an enhanced program lineup, designed to meet the needs of all ages. These exciting additions include; a new arts and culture department, TRIBE team training (small group fitness training), KidFit (group exercise classes focused on children) at the Schwartz/Reisman Centre, the expansion of Kachol Lavan and JRoots to the Prosserman JCC, the introduction of our new J school of Israeli dance, and more house league and elite sport offerings than ever before!

We’re proud to offer the Red Cross Swim Program. It’s built around an individualized approach to teaching, encouraging each swimmer to improve and strive for his or her personal best. We teach all five strokes (front crawl, back crawl, breast stroke, elementary backstroke and sidestroke), promote fitness and endurance, and give swimmers lifelong skills to safely enjoy other aquatic pursuits. We’re also big on teaching through water games. Games reduce anxiety, facilitate learning, increase participation and help swimmers enjoy the water. Our water games suit the ages, interests and abilities of each class. Since the program is nationally recognized, students can easily transfer or continue training between communities. This is especially important for teens taking our Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Development program, as they are able to work anywhere in Canada. Pools Our pools are filled with saltwater instead of chlorinated water so there’s no chlorine smell, taste or stinging red eyes. It’s also better for people with sensitive skin, skin conditions, allergies and asthma. And the kids love it!

Sea Otter (ages 3 - 6 years) 30-minute class, 1/4 instructor/student ratio, caregiver participation not permitted This will be the first class without caregiver involvement, and it can be scary. That’s why it’s heavily games-based to keep kids smiling. We stress floating, gliding and preparing for stroke training.
Sea Turtle (ages 2 - 3 years) 30-minute class, 1/8 instructor/student ratio, caregiver participation required The push toward independent swimming begins with this class. Swimmers will get more comfortable through instruction and singing, and take their first solo swims. Session
