MONTEREY, CA- The 21st annual Sea Otter Classic in Monterey, CA is what has become a four-day “Celebration of Cycling” for athletes, spectators and enthusiasts. With that in mind, Rebecca Rusch created the “SRAM Ladies Lounge”; a place where women of varying age and cycling ability could spend time within the SRAM booth learning riding, nutrition, and training techniques from SRAM professional female athletes.
EVENT GOALS: To create a festive, welcoming female focused section in the SRAM booth that would encourage interaction with the pros and teach simple bike education with SRAM products. To provide a supportive atmosphere where female riders of any age could feel comfortable to ask questions and gain insight on how to take their riding to the next level. ACTIVITIES: 1. Q & A forum lead by Rebecca Rusch, Lindsey Voreis where attendees were able to ask the female athletes questions ranging from training and equipment to why did they start riding. 2. On Saturday, April 30th, at the Truvativ Ice Cream party, more than 200 riders came to share their best riding stories and get a free ice cream. Like travelling halfway around the globe to ride some of the world’s longest and craziest downhills, far away from any form of civilization. This is exactly what Rene Wildhaber and Jerome Clementz just did. They spent two weeks riding the best trails in Bolivia, one of the highest countries in the world, under the eye of Marco Toniolo’s camera. Follow Rene and Jerome through epic landscapes and unique riding experiences. With 14 races all over Italy Superenduro, at its 4th season, is one of Europe’s biggest and most established enduro racing series. The format is very similar to car rally or motorbike enduro racing, with timed “special stages” (mostly downhill) linked by transfer stages, where the rider has only to respect a maximum allowed time. In 2011 all races have seen a record number of entries, with almost 3.000 riders taking part in the circuit. For 2011 the Superenduro series is the organizer of the Enduro of Nations Trophy, which will take place on august 6th and 7th in Sauze d’Oulx. CLIMBING FEATURES Long travel bikes are fun, especially on the downhills. However, grinding up a hill with a long travel fork is a different story. To bring back the joy of climbing, RockShox created two spring systems with a climbing mode feature, available in several fork models for 2012: Revelation, Totem, Lyrik and Sektor (air spring and coil systems). Just flip the lever while you are riding, push the fork down â&#x20AC;&#x201C; our Dual Position spring systems shorten the fork by about 30mm. This lowers the bikeâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s front end, allowing you to get into a more powerful climbing position. Up on the hill rotate the lever back and the fork quickly returns to max travel. Greg Minnaar took the top spot at the World Cup downhill in La Bresse, France. And Brandon Semenuk slayed the Claw invitational Slopestyle in Canada, while clinching the FMB points series.

It was a battle until the finish with both Rusch and Armstrong holding strong with the lead pack until the singletrack. They leveraged and maintained a gap for the win in their respective categories. Both Rusch and Armstrong chose the newest TRuvATIv Noir series bars

Wells and Rusch take the Win Everything about the Leadville Trail 100 is daunting. The distance, 100 miles through jagged Colorado mountain terrain, is a crushing all-day battle for most riders. The trails are steep, rocky and loose. The elements, including the lung-burning elevation and unpredictable weather above 12,000 feet, are raw. It requires the perfect blend of strength, strategy and flawless bike performance just to finish. And only two, one man and one woman, can win. They are the ultimate XC fighters. This year SRAM athletes Todd Wells and Rebecca Rusch brought everything they needed, proving themselves untouchable in the thin Rocky Mountain air. Rebecca set a new course record with her third consecutive title, and Todd rode solo to his first men’s victory. Congratulations to both.
