You have seen him many times on NBC's "The Voice" and now on the famous Carolina Opry stage, here's a little look behind the scenes To see more about Delvin and all of our incredible artists, visit TheCarolinaOpry.com/Artists. If social media is your thing, you can also find Delvin on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter! Q: Who has been your biggest inspiration? A: My parents have been by my side since Day 1. My mom is the strongest woman I know and my pops is the most hard working man I know, they have sacrificed so much for me over the years in order for me to be able to chase and achieve my dreams; Without them I would not be who I am today. Q: Who are some of your favorite musical personalities from the past and present? A: I would have to say that my all time favorite artist is Donny Hathaway, there is so much power and passion in his music; his lyrics were haunting at times but that's only because he wrote songs that spoke about where he was in life and what he dealt with. I also can't forget about Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Marvin Gaye, John Legend, Bilal, Musiq Soulchild and so many other artists who have played such huge roles in my music background. Q: What has been one of your biggest career achievements so far? A: Joining the cast of The Carolina Opry. People might think about The Voice, but here I am finally able to do what I love for a living and on top of that I share the stage with some of the most talented musicians and singers on this side of the Mason Dixon. I've been blessed to travel all over this country and overseas performing on many different platforms but nothing beats the stage here at the Carolina Opry, it feels like home. 10

11

Q: What instruments do you play? A: I play the piano and drums and I am learning guitar now. Q: What is the strangest thing that has ever happened while you were on stage? A: That would have to be during the last musical I was in, Ragtime. There was a power outage during the second half of the show and the lighting tech was about to call it a night but I suggested that we at least find a way to tie the story together for the audience, and that we did. We ended up performing the last scene of the show with no stage lights, props, no mics, or anything, just our voices and passion for what we do. It's now known as "The night the lights went out in Greenville". It was such a powerful moment in that theatre, being able to tell a hard story such as Ragtime with no distractions. Q: What do you do when you are not on stage? A: I enjoy relaxing at home, cooking, shopping and going bowling. I also enjoy spending time with my family and friends. Traveling is a must as well! Q: If you could blink and be in your favorite place, where would it be? A: Bermuda! Q: What is your favorite TV show? A: Anything CSI, I think in my past life I was a crime scene investigator. Q: What is your favorite food? A: I LOOOOOVE anything seafood! Q: Do you have any pets? A: I have a three-year-old French Bulldog named Bane, he is my son and he is so full of personality. Q: Which sports teams have your heart? A: Steeler Nation and C-L-E-M-S-O-N T-I-G-E-RRR-S, FIGHT TIGERS, FIGHT TIGERS, FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT!!!

Calvin Gilmore A profile of the director, producer and founder of Gilmore Entertainment

“...he participated in

Norman Rockwell

a vanishing

lifestyle...

20

alvin Gilmore grew up in the Ozarks C of southern Missouri. The son of a farmer, on a third-generation farm, he

participated in a vanishing Norman Rockwell lifestyle which centered on the one-room community schoolhouse, the country church that his family had helped to found, and the community of farmers that banded together on threshing days. By the time he was twenty, he had taken his guitar to Kansas City, where he worked in the Hallmark mailroom by day and sang in restaurants and bars in the evenings. When a Nashville label encouraged him to execute a quality demo tape, Calvin needed some capital. He decided to try his hand at real estate, moving to the Lake of the Ozarks, a resort area not too far from where he grew up. His life took an unexpected detour when he met with almost immediate success: within a year he was able to buy the real estate company for which he worked. Just a week after closing the deal, Calvin married Janis Walker. A few years (and two children) down the road, Calvin realized that he wasn’t doing what he had always meant to do. A devoted family man, he wouldn’t consider a life on the road. He came up with the idea of creating a musical variety show so that he could perform and remain in one place: home. It took him three years, but by 1986 he had selected Myrtle Beach as a likely market, found a theater (he would renovate a defunct nightclub), and worked out the financing (he would risk everything); he and Janis moved with their young children to Surfside Beach in March 1986. The success of The Carolina Opry is the stuff of legend. Over the years, Calvin Gilmore and his casts have entertained millions of Myrtle Beach visitors. In 2015, the show celebrated its 30th anniversary, a milestone by any standard. His exceptionally high standards for talent and production quality have been recognized by the industry

and the public. The Carolina Opry is the only show to have won the coveted Governor’s Cup (South Carolina’s highest tourism award), the only show to have been voted the state’s Most Outstanding Attraction, and the only show to be voted #1 every year. Gilmore has spawned the growth of a new entertainment industry on the Grand Strand of South Carolina, and under his leadership The Carolina Opry has blossomed into an institution. It has garnered coverage from NBC Nightly News, USA Today, CNN, Variety, Hollywood Reporter, The New York Times, and a host of others. Thirty years later, Calvin is still on the forefront of the ever-changing entertainment industry. In 2003 he began appearing on the stage of the world famous Grand Ole Opry, where he never misses an opportunity to invite their loyal nationwide radio audience to visit Myrtle Beach. In 2005, he introduced Good Vibrations and, more recently, t he newest production in that series, Time Warp, featuring the iconic sights and sounds of the ’60s, ’70s, and ’80s. In 2014 Gilmore debuted Thunder and Light, a live dance, laser and magic show starring the renowned All That! Clogging Group. In 2015 Gilmore introduced the Myrtle Beach Performing Arts Series bringing celebrity guest artists encompassing a number of genres, including music, comedy and authors. In 2017, Gilmore expanded the magic portion of Thunder and Light into a full feature show starring The Wagsters, Pure Magic. As we approach the landmark of the 35th anniversary, Calvin reflects on the events of those years: the pursuit of excellence, the creativity, the struggles, and the successes. “I have had the great blessing of being able to do what I love and make a living at it. My heartfelt thanks to all of those who have enjoyed the show down through the years and sent their customers and guests. May we all enjoy many more together.” 21

In 1996 he accepted a dance scholarship to Mars Hill College, where he studied and received a BA in Corporate Communication. As a national instructor Mark has traveled across the United States teaching master classes and choreography for many clogging teams. Mark has performed in Austria, Germany, Italy, Ireland, and now Hong Kong. Mark has been a member of All That! since the group's inception. Brad Berry: Brad grew up in Prospect, Ohio, and started competitive clogging at the age of 12. Brad has toured around the world with Atlanta based irish step dancing group Dancing On Common Ground and Berlin based troupe, Magic of the Dance. Between those tours Berry also spent two summers in Branson, Missouri, at Silver Dollar City dancing in their original productions. Brad joined the clogging group All That! in May of 2006. Drake Elkin: Drake started clogging at 10 as a hobby at The Rise & Shine Cloggers Dance Studio in Ellettsville, IN; further interest was sparked by a studio trip to Europe. Within 5 years Drake had moved on to competitive dance in Branson with The Clogging Sensation and was winning solo competitions consistently. Among his many awards, Drake boasts several Junior Olympics medals including five gold medals, six silver medals and one bronze medal. Ethan Stewart: Ethan Stewart has been clogging since the age of 6. After dancing throughout the country on a competitive team for 14 years, he joined the Hatfield and McCoy Dinner Show in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee and is now happy to make his home with All That! Clogging Group at The Carolina Opry Theater. Among their renowned performances: Fox’s 30 Seconds to Fame, ABC Family’s Dance Fever, CBS’s Star Search, semi-finalists for a second time on NBC’s, America’s Got Talent, featured dancers in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, and, most recently, featured half-time entertainment at the NFL's Carolina Panthers Game. All That! was also presented the Pioneer Award, clogging’s highest honor, for their huge contribution to promoting the dance. 38
