David Reiss, Sam Tick’s son-inlaw, joins Metro Sportswear and invents a revolutionary downfilling machine. During this time, David creates Snow Goose brand, which would become Canada Goose.

Dogsledder Lance Mackey wins the world’s toughest dog sled races - the Iditarod and the Yukon Quest - four times each and is the only person to ever win both in the same year, which he did twice.

Goose Person Ray Zahab enters the Guinness Book of World Records for his unsupported trek to the South Pole. He completed the journey on foot in 33 days, 23 hours and 55 minutes.





Canada Goose publishes the Goose People Book to celebrate its 50th anniversary, and launches the concept of “Goose People”. Their stories demonstrate Canada Goose’s commitment to free people from the cold.

Canada Goose acquires a Winnipeg-based manufacturing facility to meet increased product demand. The acquisition adds 130 employees and further solidifies our Made in Canada commitment.

s Laurie Skreslet becomes the first Canadian to summit Mt. Everest. Laurie works with David to create a “Big Mountain” jacket to use when guiding expeditions. In 2011, this iconic jacket is updated, again in cooperation with Laurie, and rereleased as the Skreslet Parka.

Canada Goose supports Polar Bears International (PBI). Dani Reiss becomes Chairman of the PBI Board of Directors and Canada Goose launches an exclusive collection from which funds are donated to PBI.

WHY WE USE FUR

For over 55 years, Canada Goose has developed an industry-leading understanding of down insulation technology. That knowledge has allowed us to choose the best blends of down and to craft our premium proprietary blends to suit the very specific requirements of each of our down-insulated jackets. We make sure the right down blend goes in the right product. All of our down blends contain some Hutterite down, which is among the most premium Canadian down available. It has tremendously dense down plumules that hold and retain more air than most other types of down, resulting in greater warmth generated by less fill. In turn, our jackets are manufactured to be lighter without sacrificing on warmth. Canada Goose is deeply committed to the preservation of our global environment and the humane treatment of animals. We never use down from live-plucked or force-fed birds and only purchase down that comes as a byproduct of the poultry industry.

For Canada Goose, functionality is paramount. Our jackets are built for the coldest places on Earth—places where skin around the face can freeze in an instant. In these environments—when life is on the line—fur is not just the best choice, it’s the only choice. We do not use fake or “faux” fur because it simply does not protect as well as real coyote fur. Faux fur is only a fashion statement and does not act in the same way that real fur does to protect skin from frostbite. Fur trim around a hood works to disrupt airflow and create “turbulent”—warmer air around the face—therefore protecting the face from frostbite. We have chosen to use coyote fur because it is highly abundant. In fact, in many regions of North America, coyotes are considered a pest as they attack livestock, endangered prey species, pets and sometimes people. The trapping of fur-bearing animals is strictly regulated by the provincial and territorial wildlife departments in Canada. In fact, Canada is the world leader in humane trapping, providing the scientific basis for the Agreement on International Humane Trapping Standards. Only furs taken with methods that meet this international standard may be produced in Canada and Canada Goose only purchases fur from certified trappers at worldrenowned fur auctions. We know that whether or not people want to wear fur is a personal choice and we respect the right of people to choose not to wear fur. In turn, we hope that people will respect our ethical and responsible use of fur.

GOOSE PEOPLE

LANCE MACKEY Lance Mackey has been racing dogs for decades in his native Alaska. His father, Dick Mackey, was one of the founders of the Iditarod Sled Dog Race in 1973. The Iditarod is a 1,200-mile sled race taking place across Alaska’s wilderness. Dick won the Iditarod in 1978, and in 1983 Lance’s brother took the title. Winning the Iditarod soon became a Mackey family affair. Lance was well on his way to competing in the Iditarod when in 2001 he was diagnosed with throat cancer. He underwent extensive surgery and radiation and after a four-year racing hiatus, returned in 2005 to compete in the Yukon Quest. This 1,000-mile race of hazardous terrain is mapped out between Whitehorse, Yukon and Fairbanks, Alaska. Lance became the only person to consecutively win the Yukon Quest four years in a row, taking the winning title in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008. 2007 marked Lance’s return to the Iditarod as well as his long-overdue win; with this victory, he became the third Mackey to become an Iditarod champion. Not settling for one victory, Lance also took home the winning title at the Yukon Quest that same year. Lance continued his winning streak by placing first at both races in 2008 and the Iditarod in 2009. This achievement put Lance in the record books for winning both thousand-mile races back to back, twice in a row. Lance has been honoured at both the Yukon Quest and the Iditarod for taking great care of his dogs and was also nominated twice for an ESPY award. Lance Mackey continues to race and train his dogs in Alaska.

MILOS RAONIC Milos Raonic is leading a new era of top tennis talent. As Canada’s highest ranked player, Raonic is capturing international attention for his record-breaking plays on the court. At the age of 23 he became the only Canadian tennis player ever to break into the top 10 of the ATP Singles Ranking, a career milestone that’s sure to be eclipsed many times over. Raonic’s passion for his sport and love of Canada makes him a welcome addition to the Goose People family. He started playing tennis at age nine and by 16 became one of Canada’s top juniors. Raonic qualified for his first Grand Slam event at the 2010 U.S. Open and gained notoriety in 2011 after rising from World No. 102 to No. 37 in one month, which led to winning the title of Newcomer of the Year at the 2011 ATP World Tour Awards. While training and tournaments are always top of mind, Raonic considers his ability to inspire and help others a major source of motivation. In 2013, he launched the Milos Raonic Foundation which helps children with disabilities engage in physical activity and contributes to prosthetics research. He also hopes that his achievements on the court will prompt more Canadians to play tennis—and given that he’s set to break even more records throughout the season, it’s a goal that’s certainly already becoming reality.

GOOSE PEOPLE

PAYGE MCMAHON Payge McMahon is an adventure athlete and journalist who travels the world inspiring others to get outdoors. Payge has climbed the Himalayan Mountains, summited the highest peaks in Africa, Japan and the Continental U.S.A., and has cycled through countries such as Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam. As a teen, Payge always excelled as an athlete until a horrific accident left her paralyzed and in an upper body cast, forcing her to relearn how to walk. After years of recovery, Payge made her way to New York where she spent her days working an office job — until one day she walked away from it all. Wanting more than “boardrooms and endless conference calls,” Payge turned to the great outdoors for inspiration. She advocates “actions over words” and being thankful for and focused on the things you can do in life, not those you can’t. Aside from her numerous adventures and her love for the outdoors, Payge spends much of her time volunteering with organizations like Hands on Nashville, the Chaing Mai Elephant Nature Park, the American Cancer Society, Wounded Warriors Disabled Sports Project and Habitat for Humanity.

If a product ever fails due to a manufacturing defect, we will repair the product free of charge, or we may choose to replace it. This warranty does not cover any repairs needed due to accidents, improper care, negligence, or normal wear and tear. This warranty is void if the product has been tailored or altered in any way. For purposes of this Warranty, “Lifetime of the Product” means the usual and customary wearable life of the product by the original owner. ANTI-COUNTERFEIT Counterfeiting has been a significant problem for the apparel industry for a long time. Fake Canada Goose parkas are made with inferior materials and substandard quality, resulting in jackets that offer limited protection from the elements, and they can actually pose health risks. In addition, the production of counterfeit products often supports illegal activities such as child labour, unsafe working conditions and organized crime. Working with a leading authority on anti-counterfeiting, Canada Goose has developed a hologram that is sewn into every Canada Goose jacket and accessory as proof of its authenticity. This hologram, created exclusively for Canada Goose, features seven separate images or elements that can be seen from different angles and features a unique serial code specific to each jacket. The hologram was designed to be complex, extremely costly and difficult for counterfeiters to reproduce. Starting in 2014, select styles from our collection are available in Fusion Fit which is designed to accommodate smaller body frames for men and women by offering shortened sleeve and jacket lengths.
