scored twice as many goals last year (20) as the year before and allowed significantly fewer (34 compared to 55 two years ago). The Knights are working hard on possessing the ball and learning to control play. Seeing that improvement last year has them optimistic about this fall. Coach’s comment: “We have our sights on a playoff berth this season. We feel as though this goal is not only possible but that it is probable if we keep our focus on controlling those aspects of ourselves and our game that we can control. Eight starters return, including tri-captains Brousseau, Gibson and Lavoie. The Knights will employ a 5-3-2 alignment to take advantage of improved team speed. Sturtevant, a Lewiston transfer, will help the team's transition from defense to offense. Lavoie was a first-team conference all-star in 2011. She will keep most games close, and the Knights expect their heightened scoring punch to Lobley had great summers running, and that momentum may carry over into lower pack times and scores. Smith, the defending WMC champion, is one of the fastest runners in the state. The hope is the dedication of the sophomore class brings out more runners to help the program grow. Coach’s comment: “This team will be built around lowering pack times and advancing its lead runners up into the front.” — Coach Sean Galipeau-Eldridge.
