ABOUT THE PROJECT SpanWright UK was contracted to supply for this large new build at Tongdean Avenue which included 355 square metres of pre stressed flooring over 4 split level’s. This was a modern architectural design requiring precise product detail to accommodate structural loadings and design features.
PROJECT CHALLENGES The initial schedule suggestion by SpanWright UK included for 2 site visits for delivery and fitting of prestressed planks. To accommodate Kavanah Property Services a delivery and fitting schedule was forecasted to include several phases of the build involving various trades. The schedule was increased to one delivery for basement planks and external stairs and fitting of planks at ground over basement level and a further three deliveries of prestressed planks to accommodate on site crane operations to include the additional trades. SpanWright Prestressed Planks and Stairs were stacked on site for fitting at later dates in conjunction with other trades. This provided for a more cost effective option for both parties. Ripped prestressed planks were incorporated in areas requiring side bearing to achieve structural integrity and a square edge where design features dictated. Solid ends were employed to include top steel to support loads above on cantilevered slabs. The external Precast Concrete Stairs were manufactured with M20 Screw in lifters for fitting with the on site craneage near the end of the construction process.

PRODUCT DETAIL PRESTRESSED finishes to BS 8110 and is available in a range of depths and sizes and manufactured to comply with the recommendations of the PRECAST FLOORING FEDERATION. STAIRS are manufactured and tailored to suit each project in compliance with RELEVANT BUILDING REGULATIONS.
