Rush, a neonatologist and professor of clinical pediatrics, has served in the senior administrative role of chief of staff for the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt since 2007. She assists in the development and implementation of clinical operations and practice standards, as well as providing oversight of medical staff governance together with the pediatrician-in-chief and surgeon-in chief. A 24-year HCA veteran, Rutherford served as COO of HCA’s Physician Services Group immediately prior to his new role. He joined the company in 1986 as a staff auditor. Rutherford briefly left HCA in 2005 to launch his own training and education company, returning in late 2008.

He also served as CEO of Lutheran’s St. Joseph and Dupont hospitals. Before moving into administration, Schatzlein was chief of transplantation at Lutheran Hospital and was a founder of the Northern Indiana Heart Institute. In July 2011, he began a three-year term on the board of the Nashville Health Care Council.

Prior to joining Saint Thomas Health, Sherry worked at the Greenville University Hospital System, a 1,100-bed multi-hospital system located in Greenville, S.C.
