INTRODUCTION Source Supplies – a snapshot It was 2005 that first saw the creation of Source Supplies by founder and co-owner, Dave Piper. As a sole trader, Dave established and ran a micro business successfully supplying a handful of commercial customers with janitorial supplies. In 2010, an old friend of Dave’s, Ollie Rastall, joined him in the business and together they decided to make an impression on the commercial cleaning supplies sector.

Why we do what we do After a chance encounter with a building manager who was definitely not happy with the service he was receiving from another provider, Dave and Ollie saw a clear gap in the market for a supplier that would be committed to taking customer service to the next level. Dave’s existing customers already knew he would turn himself inside out to keep them happy, so maintaining this attitude was a simple foundation for the next phase of Source Supplies. Today, the entire team are universally driven by delivering an award-winning level of customer service that is still not typical in this industry. How is this achieved? It’s simple! By employing staff who see old fashion customer service values as the norm, not the exception.
Source Supplies is evolving The Source Supplies’ ethos has attracted major companies, across several sectors, to choose to work with us. From a “couple of lads” with a van in 2010, the business now employs a substantial team and has ambitious growth goals going forwards.
Whilst safeguarding the very traits that have enabled this growth, the business plans to push on and become one of the leading independent cleaning supplies businesses in the UK.

It’s as simple as 1, 2, 3 The Source Supplies mission is to source, stock and deliver the entire range of cleaning, washroom and hygiene consumables that our customers require. Delivery is performed by our own staff in our own-branded fleet of tracked vans, directly to customers’ sites spanning much of the Thames Valley and South. Deliveries outside our catchment area are completed via our
preferred next day courier partner, within agreed service levels. Source Supplies drivers are instinctively friendly and helpful and are only too happy to put the delivery where it belongs, not just dump it in reception for you or your staff to put away. We aim to deliver orders placed via our website, email, telephone or fax, within 48 hours, and often, we better this.
Communication is Key As a business with many suppliers ourselves, we have sometimes been on the receiving end of mediocre service. This typically revolves around a lack of communication of exception processing (an order that is out of stock or a delay in delivery for example). We know that our customers experience these pains too and that’s why we endeavour to
communicate all elements of our sales process clearly and consistently to you, at all times. Whilst as a business model, this is far from unique or ingenious, maintaining it often seems challenging to others in our industry, and we know from your feedback that consistently good service is what makes us different and keeps our customers happy.

A washroom can be as unique as the organisational environment that it services. Through our partners at Metsa Tissue we can offer a free consultancy service, including a site survey, which will look at all the aspects of your washroom (footfall, quality needs, drainage capabilities, space, security etc.) and devise the best set of Katrin products to meet those individual needs. This service will ensure that you get maximum “cost in use” for your purchases and a washroom that reflects your organisation and brand ambitions.
Our Feminine Hygiene division aims to improve on customer services levels in the same way that our core business has always done.
TRAINING
LAUNDRY – DOSING SYSTEMS
In conjunction with our chemical partner, Selden Research, we regularly train teams of cleaners and management on the COSHH guidelines to ensure maximum safety on our customer sites.
Industrial scale laundry solutions are on offer via our preferred chemical supplier, Selden Research. Following its acquisition of Jeyes Professional in 2013, Selden offers a comprehensive range of laundry dosing products and servicing via Source Supplies.
We also use this opportunity to elaborate on ways in which they can maximise the potential of their chemical range, introduce more relevant products and where possible, reduce the number of chemicals used. MACHINE DEMONSTRATIONS Every so often, a reasonable investment has to be made in machinery. We have relationships with lots of cleaning machine manufacturers and we can use our knowledge and experience (supported by demonstrations that we can easily arrange) to ensure that you purchase the best one for your job.
The service includes a range of bins to suit different needs as well as barcode scanning technology that gives customers real time reports on the servicing of their bins. We also buck the industry trend by offering simple and flexible service agreements.
PPE & WORKWEAR Currently, we provide the workwear and PPE for several large cleaning companies and schools. These high volume purchases enable us to negotiate very competitive prices for all of our customers. This includes embroidered or screen printed logos and messages to your exact specifications. Understanding the needs of Domestic Bursars, Housekeepers and Cleaners requires a hands-on approach in order to provide products best suited to the nursery, school or college environment: • Our CRB checked drivers are only too happy to ensure that stock is delivered to the right place and assist with distributing stock across large sites or campuses • We know the best dispensing solutions for soap and paper consumables that suit school environments • We offer advice on products that help troubleshoot common cleaning issues in schools including the all-important fight against germs and viruses, as well as unique solutions to avoid costly drainage blockages • We’re as conscious about budgets as a school bursar is, hence why we agree and fix prices and never increase prices unannounced however minimal • We can help educational institutions to achieve their environmental mandates and ambitions, without incurring extra cost

At the time of our introduction to Source Supplies, we had toyed with the outsourcing idea but had reservations about the prospect of changing the way we had worked since our business began. Major concerns centred on potentially losing control of deliveries and having a supplier visit our client sites on our behalf but Source quickly proved very reliable and trustworthy.
We have been working with Source for approximately two years. They now supply around 65 of our sites across the South East of England and Central London. ENVIRONMENTAL COMMITMENTS We have an environmental policy that ensures we are aware of environmental best practices and that we’re responsible for conducting our business with these in mind. We are yet to venture down the road of electric vehicles or using biofuel to heat our own offices but as an evolving organisation, we have these in mind in our business growth objectives. In addition, one of the biggest impacts on the environment comes from manufacturing processes, so our manufacturer partner selection criteria aims to ensure that they are doing their best to protect our world as well. For example, Katrin paper tissue products carry the Nordic Swan Ecolabel – which is your guarantee that the paper you are using has the least environmental burden possible. In addition, the waste product from Metsa Tissue’s manufacturing processes is used as biofuel and is currently heating whole towns in the areas close to their mill. So, by working with green partners and choosing environmentally friendly products on your behalf, we can assist you in your own green ambitions.
