THE HYPE THEORY GLORY DAYS The Hype Theory are 5 piece band from Chelmsford, Essex and they play a very infectious blend of pop, punk and rock, with brilliant shout/ sing-a-long choruses and with a powerful British edge. Late last year the band released the debut mini album ‘Glory Days’ and since then have been heavily featured in Kerrang! radio and TV and the video for ‘Kid At Heart’ has been heavily featured on Scuzz TV. I love their cover of “Brown Eyed Girl” and it was nice to hear it live. “Ban The Tube Top”, “Where Have You Been”, “Snoop Dogg Baby”, “She Has A Girlfriend Now” and “For All The Suckers” also all went down really well, and all in all it was a great show packed with great songs, and great vibes.

FOOLS AND WORTHLESS LIARS It felt like this album took an absolute age to come out. The anticipation and expectations surrounding it were pretty high and it definitely does not disappoint. This four piece from Kings Lynn, Norfolk have produced a cracker of an album absolutely packed with great songs. Produced by Matt O’Grady it sounds as great as you would expect but it’s the quality of the songs and singer James Veck-Gilodi’s voice that really makes this album special. There are 13 tracks here and not a weak one among them. Tracks like ‘I Will Try’ and first single ‘I’m A Bore, Mostly’ are huge sounding

and dislike of the city. It’s one of my favourite songs with a massive chorus and James’s vocal performance on the song is nothing short of fantastic.

Another thing to mention about the album has to be the lyrics. Many bands can write a good tune but most times the lyrics let them down, that’s not the case here. The lyrics are very clever, concise and honest. ‘Little White Lies’, the next single featuring the considerable vocal talents of Portia Conn really should be the one that ignites radio and gives this band the success they really do deserve. The bar has definitely been set for UK rock scene with this album. 10/10

As the title suggests this definitely is a more contemplative and love themed collection of songs than previous offerings from the band. That’s not to say it doesn’t rock, opening track ‘Youth In Revolt’ kicks things off in spectacular style and shows the guys haven’t mellowed with age.
