Emily Mattson joined the OU women’s basketball program in August 2013, replacing 22-year veteran office manager Paula Smalling. Mattson previously served as a graduate assistant in the office and as a student manager with the University of Connecticut women’s basketball team. Roman Owen
Video Coordinator - First Year
Owen joins the Sooners after a stint as the head coach at Mid-American Christian University. Owen oversees the recording, editing and archiving of practice and game video, and also coordinates all the exchange requests and acquisitions. In his first season at the helm, Owen led the Lady Evangels to their most conference wins (8) since joining the Sooner Athletic Conference and their first NCCAA Central Regional
Jared Thompson
Sports Information Director - Seventh Year Jared Thompson, OU associate director of athletics communications, enters his seventh season as the liaison between the women’s basketball team and media. Thompson also supervises the media relations efforts for OU’s men’s and women’s tennis teams.
Previously, Thompson worked two seasons with Oklahoma’s men’s and women’s track and field teams during their stellar 2006 and 2007 seasons. Thompson has also coordinated
Marguerite Weston, M.D. Team Physician - Fourth Year
Dr. Marguerite Weston is in her fourth season as the primary care physician for the OU women’s basketball team, while also treating student health on campus at McBride Orthopedics. Weston also cares for OU’s cross country, rowing, soccer, softball, track and field and volleyball teams.
As OU’s office manager, Mattson is an instrumental part of the Sooners’ program. She is responsible for numerous duties from fielding phone calls and handling correspondence for the coaching staff to maintaining various departmental records and assisting with the Fast Break Club. Mattson is a native of Bristol, N.H., and oldest of three siblings.
