Robinson is joined in the backcourt by 2009’s freshman sensation Whitney Hand, whose big smile and bigger shots caught the attention of the women’s basketball world. Robinson had a breakthrough season as a sophomore and established herself as one of the nation’s top players at her position, a fact highlighted by a summer winning a gold medal with the USA Basketball World University Games Team. Robinson averaged 13 points, six assists and two steals, but her most improved area was free throw shooting. After posting a free throw percentage of .688 as a freshman, the San Jose, Calif., native was fourth in the NCAA as a sophomore with a 90 percent success rate. Robinson also set OU’s consecutive free throws made record at 30. Whitney Hand proved Sherri Coale correct when she called the thenfreshman guard the most prepared high school player she had ever seen. Hand was voted the Big 12 Freshman of the Year and was an instant playmaker on the court and a complimentary teammate off it. Hand averaged 9.2 points per game and was a spark from beyond the arc with a .373 free throw percentage.

Jasmine Hartman

Sophomore Jasmine Hartman returns as the reserve point guard. Hartman played in 35 of 37 games as a freshman, averaging 10 minutes in relief of Robinson. Hartman proved to be an uncanny shot blocker, recording five from the point guard position with limited court time, and exceptional shooter, successfully making nearly 40 percent of her shots from 3-point range. A full season in the program has Hartman looking to take more responsibility with the offense in 2009-10. Junior Lauren Willis, who was awarded a scholarship mid-semester last year, also returns. Willis has appeared in only 22 games in two previous seasons, a figure that is bound to increase this season. Willis is one of the team’s best long-range shooters and owns the team’s 3-point drill practice record, having made 110 shots from beyond the arc before missing two in a row.
