MP1 Cabana!
n June 1, 2012 MP1 began taking reservations for parties held at the Cabana by the lower pool and splash pad. This has been well received by residents who previously would arrive hours before their planned parties to hold the area. This will no longer be allowed, and parties can now be booked (by MP1, MP3 & MP4 residents) for up to three months in advance on a first-come, first-served basis. All you have to do is complete a Reservation Request Form, available at the CDD office (in the fitness center building) and sign a “Cabana License Agreement.” Reservations are for 2.5hour blocks of time (10a –12:30p, 1 – 3:30p and 4 – 6:30p). Attendance is limited to 25 guests. A $50 security deposit for damages and cleanup will be collected at the time the reservation is made, and will be returned after the event if the facilities are cleaned up.
Clubhouse Rental
Remember, residents can also rent the clubhouse for $37.45 ($35 plus tax) for a 4-hour block of time with a $100 deposit (returned after the
event if the facility is cleaned). The maximum number of guests is 49.
Activity Room rental
The multipurpose room in the Fitness Center building can also be rented for parties or events. Cost is $37.45 with a deposit of $100. Maximum number of guests for this room is 24. If you’d like to rent any of these areas, please come to the CDD Office to check availability, fill out the rental form and give your deposit to secure your reservation.

Pasco Law Reminders
We have received some complaints recently and want to remind residents of the Pasco County laws that affect us in Meadow Pointe. For more information, visit www. pascocountyfl.net/
Parking
Vehicles parked in the street are in violation of Pasco County Code, unless they have a County issued parking permit. Parking permits may be obtained from the Clubhouse for $30. Other vehicles should be reported to the Pasco County Sheriff ’s non-emergency number 929-1204.The CDD requests residents not to block the sidewalk portion of their driveway with a vehicle, so that everyone can walk safely on the sidewalks. Residents may park across the apron portion of their driveways (this is the area between the sidewalk and the road).
Dogs
Pasco County Code requires the removal of feces on any property not belonging to the owner of the animal. To report stray or threatening animals or owners who do not scoop up pet waste, contact Pasco County Animal Control at 929-1212. It is illegal to allow any dog to roam at large. All dogs must be kept under “direct control” at all times, both on and off their owners property, by means of a fence, leash, cord, or chain of such strength to humanely restrain the same.
Avoid that Traffic Ticket!
There have been several tickets given recently within Meadow Pointe for drivers failing to come to a COMPLETE STOP before making a right turn on red, and forgetting the speed limit. You can easily avoid these costly mistakes!

What Makes Seven Oaks Pet Hospital Different?
W
hat makes Seven Oaks Pet Hospital different? That is obvious the minute that you walk through the front door. The facility is immaculately clean, the exam rooms are outfitted with comfortable chairs, and the caring staff is very friendly and accommodating. Tours of the facility are offered and it feels more like a pet spa than an animal hospital. Each pet’s lifestyle is taken into consideration when planning treatment. For instance, a small poodle that rarely goes outside will have a different vaccine regimen than a labrador retriever that hikes with his owners in the woods. Older dogs can have vaccine blood work titers done to check their immunity levels to determine if they even need to have vaccinations done.
Page 10
If your pet needs their teeth cleaned, there are two options. The traditional option involves anesthesia and the pet’s teeth are cleaned and polished with state of the art, human grade dental equipment while they are asleep. The second option involves no anesthesia. “Anesthesia-Free Dentals” are done the same way except the pet is awake, with no risk from the anesthesia. Pets can be evaluated during a no-charge technician appointment to see if they are a candidate. Owners of puppies brought in for spaying have the option of doing a laparoscopic spay. The incision for the laparoscopic spay is about the size of the diameter of a dime. The amount of blood loss during the surgery is minimal, healing time is reduced from 2 weeks to 3-5 days and usually only 1-2 sutures are
required. The pet still goes home with an e-collar, but she only needs to wear it for a few days.
about the effects of long term use of medications on their pet’s overall health.
Acupuncture is also offered at Seven Oaks Pet Hospital, and it has been used as treatment for a myriad of problems; from spinal problems to chronic skin and ear problems, when used in conjunction with traditional Chinese medicinal herbs, acupuncture can be very therapeutic. And this is particularly important for owners that are concerned
In addition, the facility has on-site digital x-rays that can produce images within minutes with a fraction of the radiation of traditional x-rays. Emergency care and house calls are also available. v

Congratulations to Esther Castaneda, Daniel Diaz and Vanessa Bonilla and their proud parents, MPII employees, Carlos Castaneda, Sheila Diaz and Jose Bonilla!!
Best of luck to the graduates as they head off to college in the fall --Esther and Vanessa have been accepted into the University of South Florida and Daniel is headed south to Florida Gulf Coast University!
Resident Council Residents in Meadow Pointe II started moving into Deer Run and Morningside, the very first communities to be built in Meadow Pointe II, in 1997. Some residents were from the surrounding area of Wesley Chapel while others were transplants from different parts of the country. Meadow Pointe quickly expanded to include townhomes, villas and other subdivisions of new homes besides Deer Run and Morningside. As with anything new, everyone wants to meet their neighbors and get involved. Many of us are very busy with working one or two jobs and are kept busy with family involvement. Times are difficult for many of us and it is hard enough to balance our lives with all of our commitments. In the beginning, our Residents Council was very well attended and the representatives from the community came out and voiced their opinions. We have made many changes to Meadow Pointe II based on what residents have suggested. We no longer hear your suggestions for the betterment and safety of our community. We would also like to hear some good things that happen in our community as well. Meadow Pointe II is looking for more community involvement. Over the years the Resident Council and attendance at the bi-monthly CDD board meetings has fallen off. This July 2012
may be due to many things. Regardless of the reasons, there are still many residents in MPII who love their community and want it to stay a great place to live and raise their family. That is why we are asking for more resident involvement at Meadow Pointe II. Our community is going to be what we make it. Let this article serve as your invitation to come out to one of the Community Development District board meetings and meet our board members. Tell us what you like about the community and what you do not like. The important thing is to let your voice be heard. Let me also invite you to attend or become involved in the Meadow Point II Residents Council. This is a voluntary board made up of residents from the different villages in Meadow Pointe II. The CDD board meets two times a month on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month. The Residents Council meets once a month on the 2nd Wednesday of the month. So come on out and get involved. You can call Meadow Pointe II Clubhouse at 813 991-5016 and let them know you are interested in getting involved to make our community an even better place to live. We hope to hear from you soon.

T
he Tampa Tribe girls’ high school lacrosse team has bragging rights for being the first girls team in the history of the Florida Sunshine State Games Lacrosse series to win all three championship games in the same the year! The Tampa Tribe team is part of the Wesley Chapel Athletic Association lacrosse program directed by Joe Palermo and coached by Mike Diaz and Cori Smeak. “We are proud of how hard our girls work
and how they conduct themselves on the field. In this day of “win at all costs” we remind our girls that their character is defined on the field by their sportsmanship. And sportsmanship is about how you win with dignity and lose with grace,” said Renee Diaz, Tribe Coach and WCAA Assistant Director of Lacrosse. Their first championship was won at the Broward Sunshine State Tampa Tribe HS Girls win Championship at Gainesville SSG.

Games held in Parkland, Fl. May 18-20 when the Tampa Tribe beat The Vero Beach StickBenders.. The second SSG lacrosse series was held at the University of Florida, June 9-10. It was here the Tampa Tribe girls played Tampa Elite for the championship and won the first place gold medal in overtime. WCAA was host to the third Sunshine State Games held June 16-17, Father’s Day weekend, at the Wesley Chapel District Park. The Tampa Tribe boys’ high school team also took third place in the HS A division and won the bronze medal. The Sunshine State Games are presented by the Florida Sports Charitable Foundation which serves as the lead organization in promoting and developing the Florida’s Sports industry. WCAA is proud to be a part of their endeavor to promote and develop amateur sports in the state of Florida. Since the south has become a hotbed for the sport of lacrosse, the Tampa Tribe competitive boys’ lacrosse program has existed for 8 summer and fall seasons, however the girls’ program is only in its 6th Page 18
season. WCAA has done a great job promoting both boys and girls recreational and competitive lacrosse programs. This season alone, the team is made up of girls from Wesley Chapel, and nearby communities with other girls traveling from Ocala, Palm Harbor, and Apollo Beach to practice and play. Another plus for the girls’ team are the nine current and former Tribe players who were also selected this year to represent the Florida Gulf Coast at the U.S. National Tournament played in Stonybrook, N.Y. The winning of three championships at the Sunshine State Games is a testimony to the talent, hard work and sportsmanship they bring to every game. On behalf of the WCAA Lacrosse Program, we extend our thanks to the Tampa Tribe players and their supporting family and friends. If you would like more information on volunteering, fundraising or the Sunshine Sponsorship Program visit: www.wclacrosse.org, Phone: (813) 994-6633 or visit Lacrosse@wcaaSports.org. v July 2012

Penny for Pasco History On March 9th, 2004, the voters of Pasco County approved a penny sales tax, 45% of which went directly to our school system. The remaining portion went to the county and local cities. The school system has received over $139 million in Penny for Pasco proceeds which have been used on the construction of new schools and the renovation of older schools. These funds were vital in helping the District ease massive overcrowding in our schools.
Promises Made, Promises Kept Over the past ten years, the major projects that the Penny has paid for include the construction of Double Branch Elementary, Oakstead Elementary and CrewsLake Middle schools. These new schools eased immense overcrowding in nearby schools and helped to ensure that all students are able to learn in a safe and supportive environment. In addition, several older schools in need of major repair (Stewart Middle, Pasco Middle and Pasco High) have been completely renovated using Penny proceeds. Numerous other schools around the county also had significant construction projects funded by the Penny for Pasco.
Another Opportunity to Help Children The current penny sales tax will expire in 2014, unless renewed by the voters of Pasco County. Voters will have the opportunity to renew the Penny for Pasco sales tax until 2024 by voting yes on the November 6th, 2012 ballot. If approved, the new Penny for Pasco sales tax will generate $226 million that will be used to provide much needed repair and renovations to aging schools. It will also be used improve energy efficiency in schools and to retrofit and equip older schools built before 1975 with the technology students need to succeed in the 21st century. The projects are spread throughout the entire county, as the need is great in every part of our community. With recent cuts and increasing need, the school system currently has over $1.12 billion of identified need for construction and repair over the next twelve years. Projections of current federal, state and local projected funding are woefully insufficient to meet this overwhelming need. The renewal of the penny will result in the School District receiving approximately $226 million to be used on much needed school renovations around the county. By law, none of the money from this sales tax can be used for salaries or administration, only construction and technology related projects and improvements. The penny collected through this sales tax has a positive impact on the lives of children and will provide greater opportunities for learning. v

In Pursuit of Gold Awards! 45 Girl Scouts Provide More Than 3,600 Hours of Community Service
G
irl Scouts in west central Florida will receive their Girl Scout Gold Awards – the highest achievement in Girl Scouting – at a recognition event at the Museum of Science and Industry in Tampa. The Girl Scout Gold Award is the culmination of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience, and the three keys to leadership: discover, connect, and take action. The award recognizes outstanding

accomplishments in the areas of leadership, sustainable community service, career planning and personal development. A Girl Scout must be in at least ninth grade and successfully complete requirements before she begins working on her Gold Award project. This year’s Girl Scout Gold Award recipients completed projects focused on a variety of community issues that will have a lasting impact, including bringing awareness to the
plight in Northern Uganda, creating memory books for foster kids, raising awareness about pet obesity, developing reading programs for younger kids, and planting 5,000 salt marsh plugs, just to name a few. “To earn a Gold Award, a Girl Scout must take all of the knowledge, leadership and networking skills she has developed over the years and set forth to complete a service project that will benefit her community,” said Linda Babb, president, Girl Scouts of West Central Florida. “She must discover what it is that her community needs; connect with local businesses, organizations and neighbors; and take action to better the world around her,” Babb continued. The 45 young women who recently earned Girl Scouts’ highest achievement reside in communities across west central Florida, including Hillsborough, Marion, Pasco, Pinellas and Polk counties. Girl Scouts spend a minimum of 80 hours planning and implementing their Gold Award projects, which have positive and lasting impacts on the community. The award is a dramatic example of how Girl Scouts’ all-girl setting gives girls leadership experiences so they can contribute to society now and in the future. In addition, A Girl Scout who has earned her Gold Award immediately rises one rank in any of the U.S. military branches

and is eligible for a number of scholarships. Jamila Blake, Audrey Clark, Andrea Esinart and Anastasia Myers each received Girl Scouts of West Central Florida scholarships for their outstanding accomplishments in Girl Scouting, contributions to their local communities and their future aspirations following high school graduation. Jamila, Audrey, Andrea and Anastasia also each earned their Gold Award this year. Girl Scouts of West Central Florida scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors pursuing a higher education. To receive a scholarship, the applicants must have been a Gold Award recipient; maintained a 3.0 GPA (or higher) throughout their high school career; detailed their Girl Scout accomplishments, community/volunteer awards, academic achievements and school activities, and plans for higher education; and submitted a 500-word essay reflecting how Girl Scouts has helped them to make their world and community a better place. Two of the scholarships were made available through the generosity of Girl Scout Troop 128, who donated a portion of their Girl Scout Cookie proceeds to support their sister Girl Scouts. If you are not considering the Hispanic market as part of your marketing strategy, you are several steps behind your competition. Hispanics represent 25% of the population in Hillsborough and 12% in Pasco. They also represent the minority with the third, statelevel, buying power control of $107 billion just in Florida.
Parents: Do you know about great things happening in your child’s classroom? Employees: Do you have a wonderful colleague or student whose story should be shared with all of Pasco County? Please contact Andy Dunn (adunn@pasco.k12.fl.us, 727-7742448) with your video ideas. Help us communicate the vision and spread the word about all of the wonderful things the District School Board of Pasco County has to offer.
